Very nice! I've asked that same question about bar height, as I'm tall as well. My theory (wild speculation, of course) is that kids ride BMX bikes and kids are shorter than adults, especially you and me. So, if a kid moves up to a cruiser, the bars need to be lowered to the height of the 20". That's how 7.5" bars on a 20" become 5" bars on a cruiser. I say, go ahead and buy some tall bars!

Thanks guys!
PBR, I guessing you might be right. My point is that if this thing is going to fit me the same way a 20" would fit a kid, it'd need much taller bars. I haven't ridden it on a track yet but I just feel like I'm bent over too much. I know on my MTN bike, I have the largest frame I could find in that model bike ( a Gary Fisher 29" wheel bike) and I went for a fitting with my friend who has all the fancy parts to do so and has gone to school for it. That bike has a seat that's jacked up almost to the dotted line and it has one of the craziest stems you've ever seen, really long and shooting straight up. Before doing that, I was hunched over way too much and now it's downright comfortable.
I'll ride it at the track sometime this week and see how it feels

Nice build, looks great, maybe an xxl stem would let you get a little room, and allow the bars to come back some.

Nice build, like the custom stuff you did to it. You might want to look into getting a White Industries freewheel.

you need PRO XXL sized bars at 6'5" I would say a pair of chrome s&m grand slam xlt should be in your near future. then you wont have to run your bars so far forward.

Thanks COMP, that's what I initially felt like I needed being 6'5". I'm more body than legs too. For some reason I let myself get talked out of xxl bars because I figured the vendor knew better than me. He's probably not 6'5" though. Just ordered some and they should be here Thursday!

This is the way everyone should introduce themselves.
Don't ask how I came on here. No where nearly as cool as this.
Love your bike.
Are those pedal housings real milk chocolate? MMMMMMM.

Get the longest stem you can find. Running your bars that far forward is putting your too much of your weight over the front wheel. That and the taller bars should get you into a more comfortable riding position. Honestly what you really need is a longer frame, but bars and a stem should get you by.
Then lower the seat when you take it to the track, it's in the way for any proper tucking technique, (even for a tall dude) and it's more likely than not going to be the cause of you getting bucked off the front. (weight over the front wheel+ seat too high = danger factor 11)
The only real reason you need a seat on a bmx bike is for posing in the pits anyway.
Welcome to the site.

I was first considering a longer frame but you can't really get much bigger than this without going to a custom build from what I found just poking around the net and asking questions. I have a pretty long stem on there and the taller bars are on their way. The seat is definitely going to get pushed down when I go to the track. I think it'd be hazardous to my health the way it is there but it feels pretty good for just sitting down. Thanks for the tips!

That's an awsome ride. Welcome. The custom brown is off the charts.
