Full Version: What's up with RetroBMX?

retroBMX
I figured I better put up this post before somebody else does. Some of you may be familiar with RetroBMX parts, some may not, as it has been a couple years since I advertised on VBMX. RetroBMX has made Lightning Bolt seats and Pro Neck style clamp-on stems since 2001.

I have been doing more custom color combinations of the seats, but this has coincided with me developing other interests, outside of BMX. Consequently, I have not been working on RetroBMX like I should.

So, here's the story, the website is down, I am no longer taking orders for color seat combos. I do have a full inventory of the Stems, but when they are gone, they are gone. I do not plan to do another run of the stems - ever.

I may do more seats in the future - but don't hold your breath. Don't ask for a custom color seat - it just won't get done.

I have put all of my current inventory up for sale in my ebay store. Search ebay stores for "retrobmx". You will have to "buy it now" but the good news is that all that is offered is in stock and ready to ship.

Any of my former customers out there...why don't you help me out here by posting pics of your bikes here to show off my handiwork?

Thank you to all you guys who supported RetroBMX over the years, and thanks for your patience when (more likely than not) I made you wait months to get your product!

You mentioned having full inventory of stems but I didn't see them in your Ebay store. How do we get these?

Paul -
Thanks for all the work you put into RetroBMX. The seats and stems were first class, and you couldn't have been a better person to deal with.

The bling Quad just would not have been the same without the bling seat!

I still remember the leather samples you sent me for this seat. I have had this seat on 3 different SE retros. It was hand delivered the morning of Rockford 2005.

Your stems were the first to come in gold - I love gold! Now everyone has a gold stem.

Your products were unique, personal and well made. Thank you.

Thanks for sharing the pics everyone. I hope you keep them coming.

BMCG - I wanted to do a Kappa build like that, but a 24". I did get it built and on it's maiden trip around the block, my rear wheel moved, threw my chain and flipped me OTB. My perfectly nice new seat (just like yours) got scraped and torn. Pretty much after that moment, I wasn't feeling it anymore with that bike.

This is your seat and your old Kappa frame!
Thanks biggrin.gif

Cool! I didn't remember where that Kappa frame went. Glad you have taken care of it, Erik! And your new seat is on it's way to you. Thank you all, for all the support.

When we tested the Kappa K20Z in Moto Mag we used the Retro seat and stem on the build; great stuff. I still have the seat; ran it on my race bike for years until Redline sent me a Pivotal seat/post combo. It'll show up on a future build for sure.

Paul, that happen to me w/ this one - only the number plate took the abuse (thank God). Now it has the crappy Hutch pedals on her and I am afraid to ride it w/ the [Hey everybody, I'm salty!] pedals. I should have kept the crupi
