Rick, I actually have some old pics (somewhere) of us riding together, and a lot of old stickers that you autographed for me. Since you are without a bike, and we are all into old school here, I have a 87 Mongoose Decade Pro (all stock) that I would be willing to part with for you, on the condition that you restore it, and post pics. Let me know if you are interested.

Ric, How long are you in PA for? Want me to send the RX-5 levers to you there? You could slowly build up a bike. LOL.

hey guys ,thx so much .i bought a dave murria haro .its in phx az at my moms home. im in pa at dads home.
so ya just send levers to my az address. i cant use them here. also my favorite lever is the locking left handled one.i flip it
upside down and use it on right (rear)break. so if ya have any used one of just that side ,i can always use back up.
also you should have my cashers check by tommorrow or next day after. let me know so im not worried about you
getting funds. thx again.

and to the decade pro.wow, thats so generious of you. id love to have an old decade pro. that bike was designed in part
by me. the mongoose factory i should say asked for my imput on the bike since at that time i was there only freestlyle
pro rider. to be extra honest ,mongoose didn t need my help or anyone elses. those guys rocked on design, loyalty, quality, and enginering. they really new and know there, I say again,on how to treat riders right and make
a great quality product. just had to put that out there.
so hey thanks,id love to have it ,but would want to pay you something for it.
it would be cool to actually keep it here in pennsylvania at dads. i plan on coming back n forth
from califonia/az to pa .dads getting older ,and i enjoy time with.
write me at ricknphx@hotmail.com .lets talk about condition of bike n price?thx
agian,ric

Awesome that you signed up here. Woody Itson posts on here quite regularly and answers alot of questions from the old school days. I have a question I was wondering if you could answer.

Myself I am from Canada and came on the bmx scene in 1987. By then you were a sponsered rider with Mongoose. Checking out your photo from above and a couple of videos on youtube. I noticed you rode for GT before Mongoose. Is their a reason you left GT for Mongoose?

Just a curious fan from back in the day.

Ric,
Welcome to vintagebmx. You won't find a friendlier board anywhere..I promise. Your windsurfers were an inspiration for me growing up..I truly wanted to tweak them as much as you. Like Stussy said, Woody posts on here quite frequently, Scotty Freeman used to post on here a lot, Eddie Fiola has shown up on here, and of course Maurice Meyer. I hope you are able to reconnect with a lot of your old friends on here, and you can make some new ones too.
I hope your hard times are over and that life treats you well. If you feel like you need prayer for anything, your more than welcome to PM me & I'll say a prayer for you. No details needed.
Again, Welcome to Vintage, we're glad to have you here.

hey thx again for the really cool comments. ive deffenately been humbled by god and my walk of life.i believe its these hard times that makes us the men weve become today. im so happy with were im at right here and now today.
so hey i could always use a good prayer thrown my way.thx

hey woody itson n scotty freeman are so cool .i miss scotty,we used to be practically neighbors.
and woody ive always looked up to as a rider n nice guy.so if you guys have them on here giving
you words of freestyle wisdom from xgames (afa)past, your in good hands.
eddie fiola gave me my first gt bike.it was like the #5th performer ever made.he was my
truely all time favorite rider and icon.eddie has this special something that few people have,
heart.last but least you mentioned maurice meyer,he and i hung out in san fransisco golden gate
park for few yrs. hes amazing rider n freind.

ok the question one of ya asked was about my sponcerships. gt was my first sponcer ,i did the usa coast to coast tour in 1985.in 86 i moved to mongoose .it was a good move cause gt already had
the most awhsome riders .i felt if i went to mongoose,id be more outa the shadows n more in the spotlight for my own ability to shine. i loved gt and am forever in there dept for helping me out in the begining. after two yrs on mongoose, i left for again another chance to shine for hutch bicycles.
they needed help with clothing apariel, leadership of riders, frame n decale design ,and a chance for me to make a once great leader of quality hutch to be back on top.i thought with hutch n fewof us they hired on the team, i had a real chance to make more money with design rights ,peice of the upncoming company ,and to once again stick out in the crowd on new bikes n looks to be apart from the other riders n companys. so from 88-89 i rode for them. in 89 i flew to germany n worked at theme park(phantasia land)i loved being there, the germans i lived by n rode with are some of the best guys i ever met.
when i got back to america.over fluding of the bmx market by small no name companys seemed to take too much of the pie from the big guns. so they stoped advertising n sponcering riders.which lead to magizines folding. a ripling efect happened n bmx was sillenced til i believe mat hoffman got espn n other big sponcers to breath life into all the b -sports of the erra.
thanks to him ,i got to do shows for 7 more yrs at sea world n disney land.dennis langlus also was my biggest fan of helping keep me working for school shows for yrs n for help keeping the sport alive with the newer generations of youth by his loyalty to helping schools with good clean meesage n with bmx as a tool to do it.
hope this isnt too much or too long. ive had alot of questions on what happend to freestyle in emails and to me .
ive had a great life and still am blessed by god n family n freinds.
thx again for all your wonderful emails ,keep em coming in man. im loving it.
