Even though I still have my original 87 master that I got for xmas in 87, it became a completely different bike over the years so I always wanted to take one and build it the way it came originally. this isn't perfect, I had to use VP550's due to lack of NOS vp300's and used NOS HP 48 hoops cause, I couldn't find regular 48 hoops in good enough condition, also the GT tube rides have the late 80's GT logo rather than the mid 80's one, but I was happy with what I had so i built it up. Hope you guys like. Oh yeah and thanks to chip for the powder job and decals. And the 990's are missing the decal so if anybody knows where I can I get one...........

Very nice. Slap a Christmas bow on it and you're ready to time warp back to 1987.

That looks awesome!
I like the use of grip donuts to cover up that you're not using bubble font A'ME grips!
J/K didn't those Haros use generic tri style grips anyway?

Thanks for the comment guys.
Ordered the 990 decal thanks for that link
Yes haro used a generic tri grip (which ginny used to sell), but the bike did come with donuts in 87 so I was going to use them anyway
If anyone is curious here is what the bike became over the years

It came out great! Chip does great work with powder.
Why didn't you restore your original Master? It sound like you restored another frame.

I will tool around on mine every now and then (nothing hard just a framestand, a tailwhip and an infinity roll etc. I didn't want to change what it turned into and didn't want to take that away from it. like an evolutionary type thing. it has kneesavers tech 77's different stem just little things I did to it when I still rode 'til 91-2. It was stripped completely chrome, I wound up turning it black back in 02 when I got into this hobby and dug it out of my parents garage. I still might do something to it to make it more OG but for now it is what it is.

I see what you mean. It's kind of like a survivor of sorts for you. It may not be original but it's how you rode it.
Again, your Christmas 87 Master replica build came out great. It must be great seeing your 'old' bike back again.

Are those 88 decals? I thought 87 had "MASTER" in tealish green and 88 had "MASTER" in the neon yellow. Or do I have it backwards?

Yeah, just backwards. 87's had the blue/black frames with the yellow words and the team model was the all bright yellow/black frame. Then in 88 the team model had the mint/teal frame combo and I think the regular model had blue/black with white and silver words with the little freestyler word on the top tubes in turq as one of the color cobmo options. I rode Sports back then and had the blue/black frames for 87 and 88. I'd crack them by the seat clamp and the bike shop would replace them, that's how I got to have one of each year. I still have my 88 frame. I remember the word Sport in yellow on the one I had before this one.
