I have an old Hutch Pro Racer from back in the day. I honestly have not even hardly looked at it or i could possibly answer this on my own seeing how i owned a powdercoating facility. My questions are, does any one know if the Hutch was liquid paint or Powder. I am thinking of tearing the bike down and refinishing but how big of a value difference will it make if not original type of finish.I have considered to repaint in a base/clear. The clear will at least give some additional protection.

Thanks for any info or suggestions any one has.
Glen
I think most Hutch Bikes were regular painted bikes.
I think powder coating started toward the end of the 80's.
Some Hutch bikes were candy color over chrome which looked great IMO.

Thanks for the info. I got out of racing about '84 and do not recall seeing any of the candy over chrome but I did alot of that while I had my coating business and you are right it is a kool look.

Thanks again

I think all painted Hutch's to a certain point in time are chrome under neath. Basically, the chrome was not up to 'Hutch" standards. Most likely, decent chrome at the worst.

they were a type of powder (as were most USA BMX frames). powder has been around for ages.
