Full Version: What vintage Jersey would you get now if a replica was done?
VintageBMX.com > VintageBMX Talk > Vintage BMX Racing
rideHRD
Hi all,
I am interested in printing out some replica jerseys (if I can work out the permissions with the companies).
Is this something you would as a consumer want? Or would you like a Old School looking jersey (but generic).
Or neither.

Just a thought.
COASTY
I reckon you'd sell a million of them. As long as they were done with permissions.
I'll take a Raleigh and Haro jersey Thanks.
Oh and a Mongoose one.
tommydone
definately a white Zeronine half mesh jersey in xl or xxl
Lonewolf
I can't tell you how much you would sell, but the 1984 Diamond Back Jersey (with "DB" as the logo) I would buy.

There are a whole bunch of Brits who would buy them, too!

FMF
90262LeeBMXs
DB, SE, and of course DG and Hutch.

Careful! Zeronine is very much still around, though not making BMX product. All of the trademarks and related rights to their designs are still in effect and owned by the same people who created them all those years back.

Mike, what is Zeronine doing now?
brklynfbm
I really don't like the look of the modern jerseys. The designs are too busy and every jersey looks just like the next. I had a few jerseys custom made by M&M in plain white with red cuffs. They look simple, but in a cool way. I would definitely go for a Patterson, Skyway or Haro jersey.
DanThrift
I would go for the brand names you don't see around anymore. Panda, Bandito, I'm sure there are more.

Zeronine founder (and one of my personal mentors) Owen Scheppman was our industry guest this year at Rockford. Also joining him were a few friends and his mom, Lorraine, who was the force behind the Zeronine apparel line (leathers mostly, as the jerseys were made, as you all know, by M&M). IMHO, they made the best pants, bar none...all by hand and personally supervised by Lorraine.

At present, Zeronine is in the business of manufacturing and distributing hardware and supplies for hi-end vinyl cutting and printing.

It is all right there at zeronine.com (including a tasty BMX photo archive).

Best,

I talked with Owen on the phone just after Rockford, to see if he had anything laying around and to suggest he bring back the Landing Panel and matching pads. He was the coolest guy you'd ever want to meet. He had all kinds of time for me and seemed like he wanted to talk forever.

He is an adhesive film supplier and does things that closely parallels the making number plates.

Every mold is still in his possession.

I miss many of the old style uniforms and the helmets painted to match, unlike today's helmets that are just a collection of designs and colors.

I used to love Zeronine stuff, but always wondered which came first, the Zeronine logo or this...

??? Someone was copying someone!
MikeCarruth
The thing I really miss are matching pants to the jerseys. Whether BW, Veras (in the really old days) or Zeronine later in the mid 80s, there was nothing more "factory" than matching pants, jersey and helmet.

Anyone know where custom pants can be made? I know someone said Aero was still doing it, but nobody ever has a phone number.

To the topic at hand, I liked the Mongoose late 70s uniform best, probably. followed by the SE "Factory Boys"
Brown & Blue. I also dug the Skyway uniform with matching helmet paint.

ELF_DUDE
liked the team schwinn jearseys
Hutch matching sets where nice

I've ordered two sets of the new AERO pants. Its been a couple of years since I've ordered, but the last bit of contact information I had was:

Aero's owner's name is Jon, the company is actually now called JMV. 909-987-7998. 9207 Lemon Ave, Alta Loma CA 91701

If you are ordering basic colors he has them, if you want something a little different (like the SE colors below), you will have to get some of the material from a parachute supply company (www.paragear.com) and send it to him.

That SE gear looks sic! If I were going to do jerseys, sort of like the NBA throwback jerseys, I'd start off with a Stu Red Line jersey. That would be sic too! I realize that permission would have to be obtained. Oh, and an Anthony Sewell throwback, and a Ronnie Anderson and Harry Leary on JMC and DB, and the list goes on and on. What about Bob "Trash Can" Morgan throwback work boots?

Don't forget about the freestyle guys too.
bwl007
Hutch for sure (come on John D.!!)

Also the old Diamond Back Turbo Harry Leary era and 86-88 Robinson.

Those are totally cool. So, how much and how long did it take to deliver?

It would be awesome if Zeronine would came back to BMX. Id probably race more just to wear those leathers again. They were the best leathers imo, black or white. Both were sweet looking. Actually, everything Zeronine did bitd was sweet.

Did anybody catch these uber rare bars on the bay last week?

Woops, sorry, you're right his name is Joe, not sure why I put the wrong name in there. The pants take a couple of weeks and where anywhere from $55-$65 - very reasonable for custom pants. He can even put whatever saying you want on the rear as well - just like the good old days.

Great guy. I even got those SE pants caught in the chain and ripped one of the legs. I called him up, sent them back for him to repair and had him add some velcro around the calves as well to make sure it wouldn't happen again.

He did the first round of VintageBMX.com pants as well (that's my other pair) but I don't think I have a picture of those.

I wished I had bought one of these jerseys from BITD, I did buy the yellow vinyl snap pads and wish I still had them.

No website. You call him and he mails you a design sheet and you mail it back to him. You have to go old school, to get the old school leathers.

I´d go for the Zeronine jersey (or even pants), too. That´s a great idea. Black or white - they´re both timeless classics.

If you click and scroll down the Zeronine-link Mike posted, you can see a pic of one of our few German BMX legends Rainer Schadowski.
He was on Zeronine between ´86 and ´89 and made the brand populare over here.

Today his father Dieter Schadowski still runs a Bike Shop (Old- and Newschool) and has a BMX museum going on.
Check the site: Rainer´s Bike Shop

Sorry guys. I wanted to do extra-good, but failed @ interwebs.

The english-link doesn´t work correctly.

Next try: Rainer´s Bike Shop (German version, but easy to understand LOL)

Look at this throwback race. Three of the best jerseys ever in this one shot!

That years GT
and SE of course

BMX has so much less to offer in terms of color saturation in uniforms and anodized parts etc. Todays racers just dont know what was lost.
