Thought this may be a good place to ask for some advice to identify a Old School BXM frame.

I bought a chromed out BMX frame back in 1987 and used it as my primary ride for 5 years. The previous owner was unsure but though it was a 1976 Red Line racing frame. My brief investigation has reveled it is not a Red Line Frame.

Is there any site one can type in the frames serial number to help identify the frame? If not does anyone have advice to help identify the frame?

PS. the frames Serial number: 018391 (located on the underside of the crank.)
Identifying mark: there is a small bracket on the lower frame rail connecting to the "Neck Stem" with 3 drilled holes. Each hole is smaller then the next as the bracket reduces in size.

Thanks for your thoughts and suggestions.

The chain stay tubes at the BB shell look hammered from too many kickstands installed on it. Need better pic's of the welds, maybe a Tange? The SN doesn't ring any bells. Might wind up being a cheap knock off. Raliegh made some bikes with frames that looked similar to that in the 90s and sold them through toys are us. I had a 24" cruiser version.

Looks to have a 5' head tube
Kurt.
The little triangular gusset at the head tube with the 3 holes is a giveaway for Akisu. They made generic frames for a number of brands. Taiwanese I believe.

I found a photo of a bike that could be an exact match. The model name was "Galaxion" if that rings a bell. The manufactures plate was not distinguishable.

thanks again for the help. I will try to get a few more photos to help with the identification.

Kurt - Do you know who Akisu was making frames for? My brief research seems to show they made frames for allot of BMX builders even Diamond Back.

PS. The bike never sported a kick stand on my watch. :-)

Some Norco, MT Racing and I think some Ross's had the three holes in the front lil gusset.

Dozens of manufacturers. Generally lower end product of some brands (like some Diamond Backs - Pacer 500 etc) or Department store type brands though. Often the same frame was sold in different markets as different things so pinning it down to one is going to be pretty unlikely without a surviving decal.

I'd go with Kurt's assesment of Akisu, that would make alot of sense

I remember a kid in my neighborhood had a frame like that. His was stickered Venture or something like that.
mattes

83 Schwinn Thrasher. Its had its kickstand mount ground off.

LINKY- click me...

Cool little bike to thrash around on....hence the name.

It could be a Thrasher but I dont think it is. I dont think the kick stand mount has been ground off, that would be hella easy to tell. Check MT or Norco.

it's not just from 2 small visual things you can see.

but it is a very close looking knock off.
