Dudes,
Right now Comcast On Demand is offering it for free in my area. In HD no less!
I'm totally taking a trip down memory lane. The tough gang the Daggers are scary and intimidating and I'm still waiting to see the grand finale for the LA Massacre race. Seeing the Red Hot Chili Peppers performing at the "Thrash Bash" is wicked cool. Per Welinder! The combi-pool! And the love story subplot is just as corny as any other 80's movie, of course.
I was never into skating, but the skate and bike cultures paralleled each other at the time, and I know I watched this more than a few times when it came out on VHS. I'm happy for it being on and watching it right now, but I have to say that it's lame that Thrashin' makes it to free cable HD in widescreen format and us bikers can't even get RAD on DVD...

Yes, but isn't that dubbed from VHS? In other words; bootlegged. Not in letterbox format like a theater?

I never really look at the free movie selection but my wife was scanning through this morning and pointed it out. Good movie but it's no Rad. If that ever comes out on DVD legit I'll be first in line.

I bought the Thrashin' DVD. Yeah it is corny, however, who cares.
What annoyed my though was listening to the bonus features and the interview with a couple of the actors (Josh Brolin wasn't one of them). Kept throwing in derogatory comments about Tony Hawk and it just came across as jealousy to me. I mean, I can remember Tony Hawk's name and not the names of the two guys who did the interview. That said, they did point out a few funny things happening in the background of the scenes.
Pamela Gidley is the female lead and she was in CSI for a while too.

To me Thrashin' was huge. I probably wasn't a skateboarder without it when it came. The opening scene, the street cruise through Hollywood, the "Ramp Locals" jam, "Wild in the streets" at night, the LA Massacre man, everything about it is cool. The love scene was something we'd fast forward though, lol!
"Monk-the-punk!!" haha!
I bought it on DVD a few years ago and have my old copy on VHS too. They showed it on TV here in late 80's. The later film 'Gleaming the cube' was nothing compared to Thrashin'.
YEAH!

Dish network had RAD on last year. They broadcast it in HD and in the letterbox format. I set the DVD burner up and got a great copy for myself.

I bet quite a few members here would love to send you a PM to ask about getting a copy of that, myself included.
