Hi There -

Back in the early 80's I bought a white reynolds 531 quadangle and rode it for a few years. I ended up selling it to a friend who recently gave it back to me after sitting in his basement for all of these years. The only thing left that appears to be worth anything is the frame and the redline cranks. I do not have the landing gear forks.

My question is this.....what is an early 80's reynolds 531 quadangle frame worth these days?.....it has some minor rust in the usual areas but otherwise no dents or dings at all. The frame certainly needs to be repainted but that doesnt seem too tricky.

What might it cost to strip and restore this little beauty to original powder white color.

As I said.....I was the original owner and the guy I sold it to was more of a rider than a trick guy on the bike. The frame has seen very little abuse in its lifetime.

Any help is appreciated.

This site is great....brings back all of the memories of my younger days thrashing around on my bmx smile.gif

Hi,

The frame is worth around $350-$280 without the forks and to respray it would cost about $200 plus shipping. Finding good quality decals is still hard, but SE is working on producing repops, but don't hold your breath. I've been waiting for more than 3 years. Try C4-labs for the spray job.

If it is a looptail, that is, before 1983-late 82, it's worth a lot more like $1100 for the frame without the forks.

the Reynolds frames weren't looptails.

Reynolds were made from 83-85. Late 82 had the new design but are Cromoly and the late 85 are also. I have My NOS Freestyle Up For sale on Ebay Right Now.

Thanks all for replies and information. My quad is not a looptail and loooks identical to the pic that is posted.

I am 42 years old now and this bike certainly has sentimental value to me. I am going to likely get it repainted and start building it back up again. How hard is it to find the correct landing gear forks?
