Ok here is the deal. My son is 5 and has taken to Bmx riding like a fish to water. I know all dads think there kids are the greatest but he just started riding a bike 3 weeks ago and is doing really well. When and where I grew up we didnt have any parks or tracks. I am 38 years old 6'3" and 240 pounds Im not a fat ass just a big guy. I want to enjoy riding with my son. I dont want to race or anything like that I just want to ride out on the track with him. Can I find a BMX bike to fit me or am I dreaming?? My family and I live in Medellin Colombia and there are alot of BMX tracks really close to the house and or house complex has a quarter pipe. Thanks for any help.

You can find a bike to fit you with no problem. I'd say 22" top tube on a 20" or a cruiser.

And if you decide to race after awhile, don't be intimidated. My biggest competition is your size and he beats me (6'0" 194 lbs) alot. Something about power and momentum I believe.

Thanks guys for the info. I have seen 20 bikes with a 21 inch frame tube but not a 22 who makes that. Thanks

Man, good news. They make 20" bikes that will fit you. Several builders will do custom lengths. As long as you can contact these companies on the internet, the U.S. Postal service will get it to you.
Avent will make you a 23" frame. I am 6'0" 185. My favorite bike has a 21.5" top tube. I feel that I would enjoy a 22" top tube. At 6' 4" you may want to think about a 23" frame, but there is a monster on this site who rides an aluminum Redline XXL (22" ? ) flight race frame for dirt jumping. He is about 6"4" ----300lbs.
Don't sell yourself out to cruisers. Real men ride 20".

Ok dont laugh but when I was in the states last I bought my son his bike. It was a smoken deal on an Eastern Dirtdigger 18. I only paid 150 out the door for it brand new. So I go to UPS and USPS and shipping was going to be around 200 bucks. So I went to the local motorcycle store and bought a close out gear bag and put it in there and sent it with me as a checked bag. That is what I think I am going to have to do for my bike. It is real cheap to fly from Medellin Colombia to the US right now. Thanks for any help

Don't buy his stupid Redline. It won't fit a 6'4'' person. He is trying to push his stuff off on you.
nsra65, you should be ashamed.
No one wants your stupid crap midschool Rline.
The guy is looking for help. Leave him alone.

Depending on what your options down there are, just go for whatever brand you like in an XXL (there are a variety of toptube lengths from 21.25 to I think Formula has one that is 21.75, but a shorter one might feel longer because of the overall geometry of the bike). Then if it feels too small after the "getting used to it period" then you can do things like get a longer stem, edge the handle bars forward a little bit, and running the back tire as far back as you can. These things will either give you more room in the cockpit or give you a longer wheelbase which is more stable. Anyway, enjoy the hunt and try as many as you can.

We all have old bikes to sell him, but he's 6'4'' for God's sake.
I like your Redline just fine, actually, but it ain't for him and you know that.

Have health insurance.
Go with a steel frame. Look at the Formula Phoenix.

Im not going to jump or anything I will just ride up and down the pipe a litte. I have tooooooo many broken bones from riding motocross and enduros to get crazy on a bike. 2 years ago I endoed a jump broken collarbone, 7 broken ribs and a punchered lung. I just ride enduro trail riding now. No more jumping big for me. I was just asking which would be better. Thanks

Well, you're a short fella', but about any off-the-shelf bike would work. Figure 21.5 top tube at a min.
Elvis 6'4 and has raced at 230 (quit a bit)
