I just got back from Kona Skatepark in Jacksonville, Fl. It was my 1st time there as well as a few others that were there. It has been closed to bikes for the past 5-6 years or so.

It is the sickest park I have ever been to.. HUGE bowls, the snake run, giant transitions, ramps, I dont know where to begin. It reminded be of riding motorcycles in the Dunes in Socal!

We got there at 10:00 am. They opened at 10:30 and for the 1st 30 min my daughter and I were the only ones there. Even as the day went on and people showed up. It still never got overcrowded. The place is so HUGE that it can hold alot of riders...

I hope they stay open to bikes for a long time.

I have races scheduled for the next 3 weekends in a row but you can believe that after that we are going to be Sunday morning regulars at this place!

I think it's funny how KONA has gone back and forth about letting bikes in the park over the last 20+ years.

Yeah, I think that's the place I skated back in.. ... 89-90ish. That was a cool park. I remember the concrete 1/2 pipe was scary big. I also remember when we got there a kid was being rushed out, half of his bone sticking out his arm! biggrin.gif
Just JeffB now
Man I wish I would have gotten back into BMX while I was still in Florida. I lived in Jacksonville and then Orange Park in `99 and 2000. I did buy a diamondback cruiser but it was just to ride around the neighborhood, and that`s literally all I did on it. I didn`t know a single person that rode.
