Hi All, This is my full face (FLY Chaos) helmet that I painted. It still has to be put back together and the tape taken off but I wanted to see what you all think of it. I am finishing it just in time for our State race (Woodbridge VA). This is a hand painted design opposed to using airbrush (which I can do too). But I wanted something that is not of the norm. So what do you think?

pretty cool hope to see it sat!

I love the design, have you though about putting on a thick clear and wetsanding/buffing? It would give it a deep gloss and it would really pop.

actually, I am looking to find a good clear coat that would work on this since my clear coat came out pretty crappy with 10 coats!
Any recommendation?

I guess it all depends on what type of paint you used for the base colors.

When I painted my old helmet I took it to Maaco, for 20 bucks they shot three coats of automotive clear. I wetsanded and polished it myself at home and it looked awesome.

Well, I think this is where I might have a problem. The paint in the design is "Water" based acrylic which doesn't mix well with others. I will have to do some more research.

Yeah, you'd want to use a water based acrylic clear then. Which might be hard to get a high gloss with.

Actually there are alot of water-bourne clears running around now-a-days. Especially with alot of states going to the water-bourne automotive paint laws.

I think it looks cool man. Acrylic is basically rubber or plastic. maybe look for an acrylic enamel clear.

Spray cans aren't what they used to be. There are enough flat or matte helmets going around to justify leaving it alone, I guess.

It looks really good man.

I'm just Chicken I guess.
