I hate to ask since I'm sure this kind of question has been asked a few times and I did do a search but I am not coming up with anything yet...

This was the serial # to my Mongoose that got stolen

any help is appreciated.

All info that I have found leads me nowhere...this serial number is not making any sense to me...maybe I wrote it down wrong when I first got it?

the highest the letter could be is "L" for the 12th month.
the 3 would mean 1983.
040810 the number of bikes built that year.

I figured L was the highest it SHOULD go as well..thats why im lost on this.

it was the all aluminum mongoose solution pro team bike...it was a 93, but I have yet to see another 93 except in 93 with the other team riders that I rode with....

with a '93 the serial scheme is different. the pattern Steve is talking about was only for the USA made frames. by 1993 everything was coming from taiwan. the "3" is 1993. the "P" could be part of a proprietary date code or an indicator of the frame builder. taiwan serials are not always obvious to sort out.
