So the gf bought this f and f from Mr. Clean a while back and I've been carefully shopping for parts for it since then.
I wanted to build a blend of race and freestyle. Not quite one or the other but something pretty to look at yet built w good quality parts. They don't have to be old but they have to look like they could be.
Here is the breakdown..

Skyway EZ Bar off eBay that I put TA decals from Vert-Ego on.
A'Me tri grips from eBay.
Can't remember the headset. It was cheap Tange or Tioga off eBay I think.
Profile XL stem from Ed at Coloredtuffs.
New Kashimax Aero seat from Track Supermarket.
NOS Tuf Neck seatpost clamp off eBay.
New Tuff II wheels from Ed at Coloredtuffs.
2.1 Odyssey Paths from Chris at Core BMX shop here in Toronto.
Double pinch 401s from Chris at Core.
Chainring also from Chris at Core.
Cheap no name layback post from Chris at Core-might have to put on a name brand one but not sure.
NOS KKT Lightnings from eBay.
Z51 chain from Cycle Solutions (the store I manage).

The chainring has to go. I hate the color and always see a blue 44t Tuf Neck w machined teeth on there if I can ever find one.

The tires are being replaced w a pair of 1.75 Comp ST coming from Vert-Ego as soon as they arrive. These Odyssey Paths are too big and I don't like the tread pattern.

And lastly, I am on the hunt for front and rear blue DC MX 900 or 1000 brakes for it.

So my question for you guys being the experts, am I on the right track here? I'll happily take suggestions if I'm headed in the wrong direction somewhere..

Daaaaaammmmnnn...sweet & simple, looks nice. What's wrong with the chainring? Is it Redline?

Also, EZ Bars are way cool but don't seem to fit the purist TA racing scheme you're going for....but they're awesome anyway.

Yeah the chainring is Redline, but the color isn't right w my planned blue accent scheme. And the bar isn't a race bar but I like that its a Skyway bar. So maybe I need to do what Mr. Clean did and send it to the frame doctor for modification..

I say with the propsed future changes you are most assuredly on the right track..

There's a NOS Skyway stem pad I got from a guy in Australia but it doesn't fit over the stem properly. Oh well.

Turned out nice! The only thing I'd change is the blue chain. I'm just being super picky here, but I think the blue chain sticks out too much and overpowers the clean look of the rest of the bike.

Thx, yeah, I have a silver chain to throw on as I've not decided fully on the blue one. I can change them as my mood changes. lol

i'm with n20, chrome izumi. Cable length: PERFECT! I hate when a builder gets that detail wrong. Skyway pedals to replace the kkts, and the fancy hard ont the inside/ soft on the outside AME grips would up the bling factor imo. Being super nit picky here, the bike looks incredible as it sits

You don't like the blue chain either? Well silver it is, then. I love the Lightnings, tho. I prefer the chrome middle bits over the graphite middle bits on the Skyways. I might have to defer there. Are the soft/hard A'me grips hard to find?

Ok, so I took the advice and went w a silver chain (it ain't no Izumi as I can't get one from any of my suppliers up here in Canada so its just a KMC for now til I order something else online) and added the Helix d/o savers since the frame had marks from where Mr. Clean had used the same d/o savers. Better?
