here she is,james shepherds 94 condor smile.gif smile.gif i did some custom decals for it and painted it a color changing purple/blue, it definatly pops! i wanted it to have the same colors as one of my fav hoffman shirts (the one in my avitar)
got some people to thank on this one.
EGG- for hooking me up sweet with the early love handles. Ian,your my hero (and just to let you know, got the owner of kona/stonedge to let bikes back in after many years so whenever you on this side of the pond )
RARMAN1- for selling me the super forks, thanks again smile.gif
others for inside info,
jaybrand-for talking with james and getting the full lowdown on the history of this frame. i cant thank him enough for it 8) 8)
and paul murray- for helping out with a wealth of early hoffman ramp room info that only somebody that worked there could know, invaluable stuff.

im gonna end up changing a small part or 2 on it but its pretty much gonna stay this way.

you can not just post a awesome bike and not give some history. Where did you get it, whats the story behind it.

well its not an overly drawn out story, i had some help to figure out the history of it and it came a bit easier than expected (well if you know the right people and who to talk to lol)

i got the frame from somebody(who came and went) over at the bmxmuseum and he didnt know any of the history,he was selling for a freind.
needed paint so i started stripping the original black paint and found the initials J.S. on the bottom of the chain stay bridge, which got me kinda curious (and it had some grind marks on the same side that james grinds).
based on a little bit of my research and with talking with paul murray(hoffmans first in house welder,he has C40005), the firsts ones went to either team riders or riders/friends that hoffman thought were deserving.
JAYBRAND really hooked me up with the info on this one (thanks sooo much again jay!) as i ran my therory by him and he proceeded to get the legendary james shepherd himself on the phone to ask him about it,
and low and behold this is one of two condors (the other one is chrome) that matt hoffman personally flowed his friend james. around the same time james left/sold off his part of homeless bikes(and tried starting homeless jr.),matt was starting to make his frames in house.
james was starting with family bikes (which no frames were ever made) and not wanting to be homeless mounted at the time but he needed a bike to ride,so matt hooked him up. the J.S. intials were put on by Coco (Dave Parricks newly ex wife). she used to label the bikes back then so she could tell which bikes needed to be loaded up in the vans.
sometimes there would be 2 or 3 groups doing different shows in different areas and she used to help Tina (trend bike shop, now empire) load up the vehicles and make sure all the stuff went to the right places.

here is james on the chrome one (that one is an s.e. built one)

2 other pics. i cant fully see if this is the same one, but its a black frame and it has hoffman bars, forks, stem etc.....

the frame is somewhere on the rack....

and if anybody has a pic or pics of sheps on a black condor please lmk!!

This is such a good picture of Sheps. I like the packaging tape for a seat clamp. The bars on this bike are one of the 4 sets I help make here in San Antonio to try and help get Family rolling. There where a few sets of forks made down here until Hoffman made James a set. Good stuff. I like the build.

I think it was Linda. Dave's wife. Coco is his daughter.

Adam, that Condor is awesome. That color reminds me of a Mystic Mustang from that era. The early Love Handles with Superfork/stem look great on there too.

Are you riding it? It looks too nice to ride. Those bars are wrist killers!

well i am into mustangs wink.gif yes im riding it currently. i put my other pair of later superforks and some chocolate bars on it in the meantime im riding it. i dont really want to go riding it around and get it all scratched up (ive already scratched it a bit but i still have extra paint for another respray) but its either ride this one or not ride at all (which im not doing) unless i use one of my other bikes but they all have og finishes and decals and i can repaint this one anytime.
