you can not just post a awesome bike and not give some history. Where did you get it, whats the story behind it.
well its not an overly drawn out story, i had some help to figure out the history of it and it came a bit easier than expected (well if you know the right people and who to talk to lol)
i got the frame from somebody(who came and went) over at the bmxmuseum and he didnt know any of the history,he was selling for a freind.
needed paint so i started stripping the original black paint and found the initials J.S. on the bottom of the chain stay bridge, which got me kinda curious (and it had some grind marks on the same side that james grinds).
based on a little bit of my research and with talking with paul murray(hoffmans first in house welder,he has C40005), the firsts ones went to either team riders or riders/friends that hoffman thought were deserving.
JAYBRAND really hooked me up with the info on this one (thanks sooo much again jay!) as i ran my therory by him and he proceeded to get the legendary james shepherd himself on the phone to ask him about it,
and low and behold this is one of two condors (the other one is chrome) that matt hoffman personally flowed his friend james. around the same time james left/sold off his part of homeless bikes(and tried starting homeless jr.),matt was starting to make his frames in house.
james was starting with family bikes (which no frames were ever made) and not wanting to be homeless mounted at the time but he needed a bike to ride,so matt hooked him up. the J.S. intials were put on by Coco (Dave Parricks newly ex wife). she used to label the bikes back then so she could tell which bikes needed to be loaded up in the vans.
sometimes there would be 2 or 3 groups doing different shows in different areas and she used to help Tina (trend bike shop, now empire) load up the vehicles and make sure all the stuff went to the right places.
