Can you believe that picture was taken 33 years ago?

It was a hot Saturday afternoon at a track in Sylmar called Yarnell (named after the street). Bob was asking the questions and Windy was snapping the candid shots. Bob then wanted to try out a new method of taking an action shot. He explained the procedure he was going to use, as we were coming towards him he wanted to 1) zoom in, 2) focus, and 3) snap the picture all at the same time. The idea was to have us in focus (coming at the camera) with all the background in a blur going away from us.

...but other than that, I don't remember much. smile.gif

So we hit the jump over...and over...and over... laugh.gif He said the picture did not turn out to his liking. I wish now I could see those shots. A poor picture in Bob's eyes would be priceless to me.

I've said it before, I was sooo fortunate to be at the right place at the right time in the 70s. Like Stu said, "I was just Joe kid on a Stingray."

Bob liked sidehacks and figured his readers would like them also. When selling a product like a magazine, Bob had a way of making a still picture seem exciting all by themselves. Just look at the cover picture of his very first issue, it screams action. Then add to his and Windy's photographic skills, the writing talent of all the contributors just made that magazine something that us BMXers could not wait for.

Good times... smile.gif
