Any magazine collectors out there still? I've been collecting all BMX magazines for over 20 years. I've sold alot recently, but still have about 17 boxes full.

Why don't you lend or donate some mags to the guys who making pdf's of them and posting them for free?

Yeah, I've got the complete set of FREESTYLIN's and GO's. Most of them NOS from a LBS surplus stockpile. I sold off duplicate NOS and used issues.

Seven issues of #1?? ohmy.gif What's the difference between collecting and hoarding again? biggrin.gif

HOLY WOW!!!!!!!!!

That's a LOT of issue 1's... OMG.
Mine's kinda beat up though.

I'll have to hit you up with my list - I'm missing a few from 84, 86 and one from 87, one from 88.

I had a subscription of course.. Then when one would pop up on Ebay i'd buy it.. That first issue don't go cheap either.. That was back in my crazy collecting days.. Now i'm just selling to help other people complete they're collections. I spent alot of money on magazines.. Especially to complete my BMX Action collection. Paid like $300.00 just for the first issue.

I have lost two issues of Freestylin': January and November 1987. Help?
I do have over 1000 magazines. And wrote my PhD on BMX mags.

if the point of this thread is to sell, please do it in the classified forum. thanks

I had a Subscription to Freestylin but somehow I can only find 5 issues...

Not selling ... I guess, I just wanted to see if I was the only nut around here, that has way too many , and collected everything I could get..

I've got almost all of my old ones from BITD, but some of the early ones were just too cut up and I'm sure I tossed them as a kid. There was a time when as soon as I'd get the next months I'd cut all the cool pictures out of the last months and put them on my wall. I have a few still with some pictures cut out, but they're still pretty readable. I've got about 2 1/2 drawers of a filing cabinet full of BMX magazines. I'd like to get complete collections of a least certain years of BMX Plus, BMX Action, and all the Freestylin's.

This isn't an understatement. The last time I checked, his magazine collection had every issue from every bmx magazine (except Bicycles and Dirt).
King of Pipeline
I never liked Bicycles and Dirt.. But I still have the first issue and a couple others.. I'm actually in the first issue..in the background in a racing shot........

Got any ABA BMX'ers? Man Id love to have some from 86 to 88 when I racing 3 times a week.
King of Pipeline
I never liked those magazines too much.. I have like 3 from about 1985 what I was racing. Just used those magazine to check out your points. I remember always being excited to see my name in there.

If you have that April, 1986 BMX Plus! Freestyle Spectacular, that became American Freestyler, please submit it to be scanned... there's a ton of stuff in there that needs to be archived, from how to's, to buyer's guide to some amazing photos.

Thats the only reason I would like to have some of them for those years. I'd like to see how I well I did and who all I raced and see some names that ive long forgotten about. I've forgotten more than I remember.

Too much partying in college (and beyond)

KOP,

Nice collection of Freestylin' issue #1. I thought that I was nuts for having 5 or 6 copies at one time and photographing them all together, but you have me beat! I have since sold most of them and kept just one for the collection.

I am still here and collecting old school mags and videos. Like you.... boxes and boxes of stuff throughout the house. Still trying to sort through all the stuff I have been buying over the years.

I am trying to locate an old VHS video that Chris Lashua put out. I saw it once on Ebay when I first started buying and got outbid, but have not seen it since. Anybody have a copy? That and the old King of Skatepark VHS videos.

I have this somewhere, but it has pictures cut out and is probably shredded from so many people looking at it. That's one of the best OS freestyle magazines out there though, glad to hear someone else thinks so as well.

I've been going through the collection and getting them sorted out... Getting rid of some and logging what I got, so I know.. It's quit the process.. Can't believe I kept my issues I got way back in the 80's.. There was always something about magazines, that I just could never throw one away... I have every issue of BMX Plus.. I'm sort of proud of that..

Are you flipping through every page of each magazine to pick out the best condition with no clippings, missing pages, water damage or funky smell? That's what is taking forever!
King of Pipeline
Yeah stuff like that.. Logging the dates into the computer.. Paging through them. I just spent 4 hours tonight. Going through my Ride BMX magazines, and some BMX Plus.. I think i'm finally done and now they can sit for 20 years//////

Hello. I am looking for a specific PARTING SHOT. I know it is after 83. It is of a guy named Mike standing next to a huge trophy at Funway BMX in Batavia, Illinois. I want to know what month and year Plus it is so I can buy it from someone. Can you help me out? The bike in the picture is a GHP cruiser.
Thanks!

I know I have that one in complete condition.

I think the "Snap" era was my favorite time as a rider. I think it was the age in my mid 20s and the freedom combined with cash flow made doing all things bmx easy.
King of Pipeline
I've seen those Freestylin's before with the letter. Even seen a few on Ebay over the years. I remember getting that in the mail. And was very stoked..
I recently sold one of my first issues. Great magazine....
