O.K. I'm a flatland newbie and I've been practicing 20-30 minutes every night on my used Fly Malaga that I bought off of CL and watching Mat Wilhelm's video when I can. Hey, I've got 3 kids so the free time is rare! Recently, I wiped out (yeah, this happens a lot) doing a tailwhip and tweaked my ankle pretty bad. My left foot slipped off the top tube after the frame swung around then, my foot slipped through the frame and I fell on my a$$. I twisted my ankle and it swelled up big time. I'm about 75% healed now but the confidence is about 40-50%. My question is, as a beginner, should I wear high top shoes for additional support? Or, should I just sell the bike and try something else like fishing or something? LOL!
BS
Chase Gouin wore high-top Nike's didn't he? And that was before Nike was in BMX.

I didn't recommend them. Chase Gouin did! HA!

(Oh wait, I just realized what I did. I read about that deal on another BMX Board yesterday, Kelly. Sorry to hear about that.)

Yeah, Etnies. What he said!

I always thought VANS were the best bmx shoes because they all have a shoe patterns that grips pedals stubs well! I only use VANS for freestyling!
