I think in the end you have to decide what kind of riding you want to do. If you want to concentrate on flatland and street, you might really like the new bikes built for that purpose. If you want to stick to old school stuff, you might just like riding one of your old bikes.

Perfect quote from your earlier post.

that's why I still ride an old Haro Master. I like to ride all kinds of styles.... and like the bike - as ancient as it is... to be able to work within any of those types of riding. smile.gif I pretty much keep it old... within reason. I use new odyssey tires, and new grips. A few early 90's components, and odyssey evolver brakes (just because they're easier to adjust than old 990's ). But overall I want the comfort I grew to know - riding in the 80's.... and still can watch the old videos to see what's possible on these old bikes. Some amazing stuff.

Some really amazing stuf is possible on these old bikes. I know flatland, street and vert have all evolved a lot, but I was watching 101 Freestyle Tricks (Part 2) on Youtube, and some of those old tricks are still pretty amazing -- all done on the old school bikes we've come to love.

Wow man,
Major Props! You are carving.... OVER VERT.

Incredible pic! smile.gif

I also like the cluster of stickers in the upper right. you can tell that was someone's afternoon goal... see how high they could go (most likely on a skateboard) - and make their mark. smile.gif

Thanks. I have a couple of pics where I'm higher, but there not as good.

There are a few really good skateboarders here, and they put the sticker on their hand (backwards of course) and carve the pipe, and slap it on. There are a few BMX kids that can get past 10 o'clock. It freaks me out. smile.gif

I'm 40, 5' 8" 190# and still ride the same RL 20 II I put together in `87.
Heres a pic of the bike from earlier this summer after a cleanup and relube.

I have since added New Odyssey Frequency G tires, and ditched the rotor so I could drop the stem and make the bike more Skatepark friendly. It feels as solid as it ever did and I'm having a blast banging back and forth between the ramps.

Yeah? Where do you guys ride? I'm another "old timer" still riding street, park, trails and now, trying out flatland. I'm not particularly great at any of them but I still have a ton of fun!

Mount Dora.....well then you are pretty close to us! I am in Sanford, Wayne is from Deland, and Chip is from the downtown Orlando area. We try and ride together once a week or so on saturday or Sunday, usually up in Deland or Orange City for flatland. You should come out sometime! PM an email.

Well my new ride came in today, an OG Balance.
I put it together and had myself a little Jam session at the bottom of my driveway for about an hour.
I was surprised I actually pulled off a few Flail Boomerangs, Funky Chicken's, Infinity Rolls & HalfHydrants!!!! Not bad for someone away from bikes for 20 years!! I'm PUMPED! It may be a little bit before I start trying Hang 5's though.

Here's a pic of it. I bought some new Black Widow cranks so those 1 piece POS's are heading for the trash.
The only thing I don't like are the skinny tires, I need something a little fatter.

The 1pc cranks heading for the trash? Come on, why are you serious? I'll take the cranks off your hands i'll pay the shipping.

To be honet. The first time I jumped this I was pretty much scared sh@*%^less.

Absolutly Sick!! Love it! Stumbled across this thread and got pretty pumped. I am 45 years old and ride with my 17 year old son almost daily. I started riding about 7 years ago after not even owning a bicycle for 27 years. I only know 2 other guys that are 40 plus that still can ride dirt jumps with some authority. So, seeing this picture has me pretty pumped! Still haven't met anyone older than me that still rides dirt. If your out there, let me know. Heres a few shots I got riding my new Sunday Model C.
