will skyway tuff I rear coaster brake fit in a moto mag II? mellow.gif

Not 100% sure here but I think Motomags had two types of guts. Shimano and Bendix. Mine are Shimano and I tried for ages to find Bendix parts. I eventually found out the difference. All good now.

Mine were Shimano. The differences inside are quite a lot. They will not interchange. I don't have any pics of the differences or the hubs inside. The bearings are a different diameter also.

Early motomag wheels used a Bendix Coaster hub. THe later ones towards the end of production used a Shimano Coaster.

THey are not compatible so you cannot fit Bendix hub internals in Shimano.

Search ebay for Bendix Bendix complete hub on ebay

Shimano complete hub on ebay

either item, you'll only need the internals. The hub shell makes a great pencil holder for your desk.

THIS IS A LIST OF COMPATIBLE HUBS
-------------------------------------------

MOTOMAG I = BENDIX 70/76 OR SUNTOUR COASTER
MOTOMAG II (COMMON VERSION) = BENDIX 70/76 OR SUNTOUR COASTER
MOTOMAG II (NOT COMMON) = SHIMANO
MOTOMAG II FREEWHEEL VERSION = KT
SKYWAY TUFF I = BENDIX 70/76 OR SUNTOUR COASTER
SKYWAY TUFF II = BENDIX 70/76 OR SUNTOUR COASTER

BENDIX 70/76 AND SUNTOUR COASTER BRAKE BOTH FIT THE SAME STEEL SLEEVE!!!!
THE SHIMANO SLEEVE IS DIFFERENT (2ND VERSION)
THE MOTOMAG II FREEWHEEL VERSION HAS A DIFFERENT SLEEVE (WITH TEETH) (3RD VERSION)
THE SPROCKETS AND HELICAL SPLINE ARE A SLIGHTLY DIFFERENT SIZE BETWEEN BENDIX AND SUNTOUR
(RELATING TO THE SPROCKET INSIDE DIAMETER, MEANING A SUNTOUR SPROCKET MAY NOT FIT A BENDIX HELICAL MOUNT)
