Well after my trip to so cal and talking to a few TO's I am thinking about changing our race day to Sunday afternoons. We now race on Saturdays and people are not showing up, so this is my last hope or I am done.
I have talked to the ABA and they gave me the OK to do so.
There are only a few who are from my area on this site so please tell me what you all think.
WE ARE RACING ON SATURDAY APRIL 30th SIGN-UPS 2-3:30

I plan on bringing Natalie and Kaitlyn out this weekend if all goes as planned. I only have them every other weekend though, so we will continue to be part timers. I don't think the day is too big of a problem, but the time. Right in the middle of the day can be tough to schedule.

Greg, I don't know what to do either. I do go to Carson City, but I spend just as much time trying to get people to come to Bighorn as I spend on the track. I really don't know what the problem is. To improve your riding, you need to ride different tracks.
Please do not consider giving up!!! With only 2 tracks, that would suck!!! I know that sounds selfish, but I'm sure I speak for several other families as well. I don't know how much help I can be from an hour away, but I'm willing to help you try anything.
One issue is that there are more riders in the Carson/Gardnerville area. I drive twice as far as they would have to, but it seems difficult to get them to come up.
Sunday would also work, for me at least, don't know about others. My only concern is, although we may not have a lot of them, we do get some Carson riders on Saturday and going to Sunday might cause some of them to not show after racing Carson that morning. I like 2 races in one day, but it's not for everyone. I may not have an immediate solution, but like I said, I'm willing to help however I can.
One last thing. I know this is a whole big can of worms to open, but a completely rebuilt track (Billy Allen style) might help a whole lot!!!

Steve
We have rebuilt the track EVERY YEAR but this year. Track will never set up if I keep putting money out of MY pocket for 8 motos, DONE WITH THAT.
I give out way better plaques for races, do special things, have mystery motos, give away T-shirts, my wife is nice, and we get 8 motos.
Billy Allen cost close to 3k for him to come and redo a track, then I have to finish it, He places the dirt, I do the rest.
Track is not the problem. Chula was hard, Oldsmar is hard, Bakersfield is, well different. So don't tell me it's the track. From what I hear for my peeps from the track south of us, it is......... I will stop there.
Unemployment at 19% here does not help, and I can and will not keep funding this track out of my own pocket for nothing. JR starts driving in 3 months and there ya go. He can get to his own races.
Things have to change or I am done.

Greg, Sunday afternoons might not be a bad idea we will try to make it up there but I was recently told that we need to scale back the amount of racing that we do because the kids are missing out on allot of other experiences. I admire the dedication that you and your family have put into Bighorn BMX and thank you for all that you have done. I don't have any answers to give as to why more people don't travel up to your track but to badmouth Carson/Douglas riders for not going up there every week, or to make statements like "So don't tell me it's the track. From what I hear for my peeps from the track south of us, it is......... I will stop there." will not help the situation.I am sick of this petty us vs them Bull .... and that doesn't do either track any good. We also work very hard to make the track enjoyable for all riders however there are some things that we can't control like the wind and if you have a solution for that let me know!
The one thing that Mary does do is allot of recruiting she sends flyers to almost all the schools in Douglas and Carson and we get a ton of new members every year some stay with the sport some don't with your population up there you would be killing us if you did that. I think it's time to drop the us vs them mentality and promote both of our tracks and show those true Southern Nevadans how teamwork can build our sport!

Now that was some funny stuff right there Steve.
If you have no clue, don't respond.
I love the Carson/Douglas/Fallon riders and most like me that come up and ride.

PS, did not know I was playing Us vs Them. I don't schedule stuff on Carson BMX race days. Do I?

Plaques are coming for the Halloween race this Sunday. 4th annual Bighorn BMX Halloween Plaque.
Also till the end of the year, I will be doing a "Best of" plaque at each race.
You can earn these by killing your moto, having a great move on the track, or just having a good race.

But who would of thought in freaking January, we would be racing??? We as riders had to travel hour & half to Roseville. The track was in great shape for the 3" of snow / mostly rain we received in three day. Thanks to the people that came out and helped get the track rideable.
