I can't tell from pictures, but I was wondering if the blue OM has an American or Eruo BB. Anyone?

American BB. The 08s had the euro.

Ah man, not sure I like American BB.

I have an 08 with the euro, and I would rather have the American - just easier to deal with - and, you can use a Profile Evolution bottom bracket and not have to deal with the internal spacer.

So you think it's better huh...The verdict is still out for me. Not sure I like the bulky look of the American BB since I'm so used to the Euro BB now.

Why in 2009 would anyone use anything but a mid BB?!!! ( or maybe a spanish) With integrated headsets and mid BBs the days of cups are done. The new designs are so much more reliable and easier to deal with. I really dont understand you racer guys not using the new advances in headsets and Bottom Brackets. Sometimes I think it is because you dont wanna be like "those freestyle guys".

Because racers are sporting euro's with outboard bearings as the latest race BB.

I'm not sure on the Am BB on the OM now. I understand it on the retro PK & quad but I didn't think the OM was a retro.

Why are racers still using Euro? I seriously dont see the advantages.
The advantages of the mid BB are clear..
#1 Tried and true bearings that have been used for years. Easy to find, proven design.
#2 No annoying cups to deal with
#3 Bigger bearings than euro handle the load better therefore stronger.

I'm not a bearing expert and I'm not claiming to be but I have been told that the euros have 4 bearings vs the 2 for mid, the euros have also been around for years in MTB's and because the out board bearings make the distance b/t the bearing greater it makes it stronger.

Please no flaming as I did say this is only what I've been told, I'm not claiming to be expert. smile.gif I'm guessing someone else can add details if correct?
