Can someone please help me and tell me what size headset I need for my 1980 Schwinn Sting? I know they are different that the "normal" size, but when looking for one I dont know what to look for.

is this correct??
1.0 Inch Threaded Headset - 26.4

Headset - 26.4
(2) versions available:

Version 1 JIS - Fits 1" threaded steerers and JIS (27.0) fork crown race seats. Keirin certified.
Version 2 English - Fits 1" threaded steerers with (26.4) fork crown race seats.

Thanks!

You'll need a 1" road headset. A BMX 1" is too big to fit in the frame.

The Sting was built by Paramount and they used nothing but roadie stuff on the bikes, hence the roadie headset.

find yourself and old schwinn varsity or traveler 10 spd -- they get tossed out on the regular and/or sell for next to nothing

strip her of her parts and whalla ! your set for a few builds -- they have a nice parts lot on them

Sedis Sport headsets were commonly used on the Sting. You should be able to find one online.
