Full Version: Who can help me identify my brothers weird old full suspension bike?

So what is it? There aren't really any identifying marks on it. I think there is a serial number under the bottom bracket, need to check on that.

Only info I have is it came from JC Penney in about 1980 give or take a year. I remember seeing the owners manual, the cover showed a kid jumping it high into the air. I believe when my dad bought it some parts were missing so the handlebars are not original, not sure what else. Any ideas? I haven't had any luck with google searches and was recommended to check out this forum.
thanks!

I can't tell you, but under no circumstances should you restore it. Leave it alone!

Way cool. Don't even change the tires. Leave as is!

Your are welcome

That is a Silver Fox. I have one hanging in my garage. I also have the same exact grill that is in the second pic.

Kelly, isn't there a pic of you jumping with this bike somewhere? biggrin.gif

Wow, that does look like it! I wonder if there were different trim levels or what, mine has motorcycle style chain adjusters, the kick stand is different, and there are 2 reinforcement plates at the head tube. But that is definitely it. That's pretty cool, thanks!

Also, you have good taste in grills smile.gif

I hardly ever rode this bike. Our kids ride it around once in a while. The jumping pic was on my Yamaha. My Silver Fox looked just like yours before the paint, wheels, bars and seat.

Looks a little better with a non-duct tape seat

Those two look like different bikes to me. Check the gussets. Also the on on the museusm doesn't have anything more than U bolts for stem clamps.

Made by the Fox Corp of Janesville, Wi. They made minibikes. I don't remember the exact story but from memory I think Fox Corp may have been the parents of Indy Car Racer Stan Fox and Lemans Corp. founder Fred Fox. LeMans Corp. is better known to motorcycle people know as Parts Unlimited, Americas largest distributor and owner of THOR, Moose, Sunstar and a bunch of other brands. Bob Haro still does or did design for Moose Apparel.

Cool bike. Would love to have one. You can change the tires though...they are not correct, I believe it should have 2.125 tires. Probably the pad and grips as well.

Let me know if you brother wants to get rid of it... biggrin.gif

Looks very Huffy or Free Spirit'ish to me. Still a very cool ride all the way around.

Wow! I just noticed it still has the plastic cup over the bottom bracket. Cool...
