I can still remember the "good old days" Joe rich & luck-E coming to RAMPERTIA in jersey(south plainfield) I had no idea the company would become a powerhouse. Rick you are a hero in my book. You stuck it out.
S&MMATT
im not crazy about the gussett tube, but other than that its what i like...simple straight tubing frame. nice to see another flat frame without crazy bends
JiveHandle
That's chicken lickin' awesome.
Larryboy
Can't wait to see what John DeBruin has to say about THIS.

Let the "cease and desist" letters fly!
nvmyslowride
Its not a copy! Its a custom build for rick & friends, not production. All tubes, and diam's are totally different. Just the Style resembles!!
Larryboy
I don't think that matters to DeBruin. He was sending such letters to Kappa, who was already going out of business anyway. He seems to be kind of fond of the "strong-arm" approach to people who use ideas similar to those of his newly acquired company, Hutch (not his ideas, mind you...those of the REAL Hutch from before he was part of it).
nvmyslowride
Were not here to argue or fight, or copy. It was a cool idea rick had as he was a real part of the real hutch, and wanted something cool, so he did a inspiring front end and redesigned the whole thing, and here it is!

someone always has to spoil the party... sad.gif
Larryboy
Oh, don't get me wrong. I'm all with you. It's way cool.

I just dread the thought of how DeBruin might handle it based on his actions with other companies.

I was trying to make a funny, not be a buzz kill.
freestyl
I like it. A couple of mods and I would love to have one myself. Woody

1. 990's
2. Removable Gyro Tabs
3. Coaster brake tab
4. 3/8 rear drop out
5. Trick star style platform

What can I say, I'm old school and like old school tricks. I will leave the new stuff to the new school. Woody

The first 4 is a piece of cake. #5 not trying to copy hutch's. But the rest is easy!

6. Rear standers. Almost forgot that one...

I totally understand your point, I don't want to cause anyone any problems. Ironic thing is, I'd be copying my own design.

Well, the frame is way cool, but what I would REALLY love to see is Moliterno using it to recreate one of his classic AFA runs.

+1!

I think Woody and I are the only ones who liked those rear standers, even if they were a little tough on the Vans.

JDB can't do anything if Rick is building it for himself. He also can't do anything is someone contacts SBC and has them "custom" build a frame to their "specs".

NO COMMENT. SBC is not here to start fights, or arguements, or bad mouth. I will leave that just as said, as nicely as I can. As a company I think you need to be the bigger person then to stoop down like that. BMX is for fun!! So lets Just let the positive comments fly, and forget the neg's! atleast from me!!! smile.gif

This front with a loop? hmmmmmmm

I just want to go on the record and say John D Bruin has been nothing but helpful and cool to me since we met. He has hooked me up a few times and not asked for a thing in return. I also know that John has given his blessing to a couple of outside project without getting up in arms, most recently the Nike "Trick Star" deal. I also don't think John would have any issues with me having Rick build me a modern day RPM custom built-Trick Star look a like. This is what I have wanted to ride for quite some time. A Trick Star with all the modern updates. John is working hard and trying to bring back Hutch in a new way, with respect to the old designs and that's a huge task. Ask yourself, how cool would it be to have a Standard made new TS or Pro Racer? Stranger things have happened. Woody

This bike has been the talk of the town, my PM box is always full of quotes. So if your thinking of ordering on, do it soon, it could be a limited time custom build!

On another note I've had a few vintage members email privately already and ask me if they "SBC" would build more, just like the one I want built for myself. I told them I would ask and have to find out what the cost would be.... Woody.....

Well, to be honest, they want exact copies of the bike I'm having built for myself. woody

Now from SBC...

If we built let’s say 10 matching bikes (different colors), since the Jigs will already be made, we could keep the prices down some more, since we are doing one, it is easier to do 5-10+. And I Would be able to pass some savings on!

Thanks

Nick

Due to a PM I had. Im curious to think, what does everyone think this frame cost? Remember most STANDARDS run $395. and as all STANDARDS each one is hand built one by one in the USA!
JiveHandle
Don't know what custom frames run, but SBC regular production frames are priced competitively, even with asian frames. The notion of Made in USA breaking the bank is a myth!
trickstar
Woody why not have JDB build you what you are looking for?
nvmyslowride
THIS frame is not much more then normal standards, due to a extra few hours of labor in the front end and extra materials. remember custom made for you in the USA!!! ALL this all a new bike built from ideas from the ground up. trial, and error, Jigs made, exc.....

Beauty! good2.gif

Straight-up, let me know what one cost me before I order one. Some details got to be hammered out before I make an impulse purchase.

And if they make ten frames in ten different colors, will it be first-come, first-choice for color preferance? Can I get dibs on chrome?

Nice going on that frame any which way. I would just recommend that the 990 brake tabs get located under the seatstays. Haro's new/retro original Freestyler had them above the chainstays so you couldn't run a small, contemporary sprocket. I personally didn't like that.

And something I'm also very curious about: Head angle?

Cheers and thanks!

me 74.5h with under seat stay lugs smile.gif
nvmyslowride
If you guys got together and did a 10 frame order. You would pick your own color. there could be 10 black or 10 reds, or one of every color, chrome does cost extra and is spendy in our area due to EPA and living on the river!! but yes you would get your choice of color.

See if woody will post his specs and see if your all happy with that and lets gets some orders placed. or we can build them 1 by1.

Thanks
