I found a blue 86/87 Greg LeMond road bike in good condition for $450. Should I pull the trigger?
Evan
Could be interesting from the era/history perspective. How is it spec'd?
Criscobath
Even,

I'll have to get back to you on that. I was in a hurry and only got to look it over briefly. It's very clean.
mr coasterbrake
double check the year. Lemond didn't start up til 1990.
Evan
True, but the frames LeMond rode in the TdF then were decaled LeMond, which is why it may hold historical importance.
mr coasterbrake
did they do that, that early?

the earliest i can find were the re-badged "LOOK/TVT" frames in 1989.

Criscobath, I bought a "Team Lemond Club" bike in 1991, which if you want to compare to the other Lemond Bike, let me know. I'm in Allen Texas. The bike still has the original paint and most of the parts.

Mr Coasterbrake,

Can you post a PIC of the Bike? And does it have Campagnolo and Miche parts?
mr coasterbrake
it's been picked up.

it had a bunch of upgraded/more modern parts on it, but there was some Miche stuff, if i recall.

I have a bike almost identical except it is white not yellow. Also I think it says "Comp" not "club" I would have bought it around 1990 also. I will see if I can get a pic up.

This is an older thread now, but I just spotted it. The LeMond bikes of that era were Italian made and distributed by Ten Speed Drive. I raced for them in 88-89. Those were great frames! Nice long euro-geometry. I don't know anything about the collecting side of these bikes, but it was a nice bike to ride back in the day.

Hello All,

Just signed up for this forum and noticed talk of the LeMond road bike. I have one myself, possibly late eighties/early nineties. White with Campagnolo comps, very clean. Any idea what this bike is worth?

Thanks,

Todd

It's a weird time in the market right now.
All of the people converting classic road bikes into fixie/single speeds are driving prices up.

Yeah and they want old stuff or lugged frames that look old to do those builds with. There are allot of good deals on old road bikes out in the sticks but if you get in a big city or a college town forget it prices wil be high.

Go for a drive out in the country on the week-end and hit some yard/barn sales and you can score big time.

I just picked up 2 OG 70s Bridgestone Kabuki speedways for 15 bucks

I have 4 Raliegh Records from 68 to 81 in the garage too, have less than 30 bucks in all 4, all yard sale or free on the curb.
