Mirra won the first stop.. Man, was that a fluke.. Daniel and Spinner both messed up pretty bad.. Mirra is my favorite rider these days. Anytime I can see and old school rider still out there, and winning is great..
NOt sure if Mirra will try to pull out any new tricks at the next stop or not.. Can't wait to see what he's got up his sleeve.....

Mirra has always gone way bigger than the kiddies, now he`s brakeless. I would love to see him win a couple more titles between now and him turning 40.

I wonder how many more events Mirra will be doing with his rally career taking off? If you think about it, a "stock" Mirra run is still full of big tricks...

The judges love Mirra. There is now way he'll win another contest.. That dude is just sick, but there is now way, he can win again.. Daniel and Spinner will be on they're best game, not to mention if Craig Mast or Cramner decide to ride..
That rally car crap.. It mostly seems like an X Games deal.. I guess he figured he had a better chance at getting a medal in rally car, than Super Park this year, is why he backed out of of Super Park..

If Mirra focused on riding again, he could be a contender still... Dhers is tough to beat, but Spinner seems to lack the consistantcy and also seems to count on one big trick to win.
From the sounds of it, Mirra's rally car deal started as an Xgames deal last year, but after he medaled, it became a little more serious...

There are a whole bunch of great new guys comin up also. You have Andy Buckworth, and Mark Webb to just name a couple. Dhers has seemed a little off lately and Spinner while a great rider at what he can do, lacks variety and depth in his riding. Scotty Cranmer, now back from his injuries, seems to be the same winning rider we knew 2 years ago and Guttler and Diogo Canina have both been on fire lately. I guess I am trying to say Park is really anyone's game right now as there seems to be a bunch of really great riders who are hungry.

I think if we get to see some more different layouts, like the super park, it will really mix things up... The talent level is deep and soon I think the big news will be the names that don't make the finals...

You know it is funny I was thinking the same thing with the X games this year and then Cranmer won. He is generally not considered a "flow" rider by a alot of people. ( I figured differently due to a few things I have noticed about him) Not saying you are wrong just saying it was rather ironic with all of the BMX "trendies" talking about how this park was Chase Hawk's style and yet the top finishers this year were still more of the "box jump" park guys. I guess one never truly knows until the dust settles just how good somepeople are.

I give them all props the competition level in park at any contest is insane right now!

I think the Superpark rewarded the rider that looked for different lines... And Scotty does that... He is one of those guys who pulls the big tricks where you don't expent them..

http://bmx.transworld.net/2009/08/16/2009-...alifying-video/Remember you are watching a qualifying video. I was there for all of practice and finals (got there way early for good seats) and while Webb rode excellent, he did not do any of the super tech combos he showed in the qualifying vid. He did however pull a decade to 360 but it was after the buzzer so the judges did not count it. I still think he should have scored a little higher and the crowd let the judges know when his second run score was announced. A lot of the better riders where looking great in practice but crashed in the finals. Craig Mast was absolutely ON FIRE his first run until about halfway through when he seemed to get a little aimless and loose his way. The first 30 to 40 seconds of his run where insane! The beginning of his second run was equally as good and was looking like he was going to right his first run shortcomings but a crash on a frontflip tailwhip killed all hopes of that. I still think he should have placed a little higher. Either way in my and my wife's mind he KILLED it. The 2 new DK sponsored young guys , Maddog and Drew Benanzon were looking awesome in practice but crashes kept them from placing where they could have. Dhers started great in his first run but almost immediately crashed doing a way corked out can can 720. It was so corked it actually looked like a 360 backflip. His second run was really kinda of flat, a definite safety run for him. He deserved 3rd at best. Mirra while not maybe doing as many super bangers did his fair share and did them all super high. He did deserve second. It was great he was tied with Dhers after Dhers second run and Mirra made sure his second run was high energy. He pulled an Air Traffic Controller and and host of other tricks. He really seemed to be really trying to get as many tricks into the run as possible in that run. He did look a little squirrely though. Not the typical Dave smoothness... he seemed a little on edge. Still Dave is a great rider and proved why he is worthy of all the praise he has recieved. Garrett Reynolds won and while I fully respect him as a rider and will admit he has talent his style just doesn't really do alot for me. There where a few other riders on the course whose runs I liked better. Garrett just rides park like street and while it is cool when I go to see a park event I wanna see park. I was really impressed with the first half of Ryan Nyquist's run but sliding out on a 720 double barspin killed his first run. His second run just didnt have the fire his first had. Had Ryan landed that the 720 double barspin in his first run I have a feeling he would hve easily podium'ed. He had some serious momentum going. He really seems to be trying to continue to progress and shut the naysayers about him being not relevent to today's riding. I was bummed. Over all an excellent contest with some great tension other than everyone kinda giving Garrett way too much love in my opinion.

Gotta pull for my homie and a rider I take care of a little bit Spencer Bass. He`s in SLC this weekend.
WICKED talent from an 18 year old kid. Good kid, too. Doesn`t get into "enhanced" partying like many of his peers.
