I got the bike back from an old buddy who used to race in the early 80's after my Hutch was stolen (twice!). I've always thought it was a '77. Right now it's hanging in my garage and i'm curious exactly what year it is and if it's a proline. It's chrome, original rims, cranks. . . basically everything original but the seat, pegs, tires, bulldog brakes (vintage tho!), and Gyro (vintage as well, i'm sure.) Rode the heck out of this bike! many good times. I was thinking of restoring it and wanted to know what year decals and such to get.

Ideas??

S/N is RA 03760

thanks!

I think it's an '82 MX II or III (I don't remember MX III's back then though) made in Japan. Nice but somewhat small bikes. Have fun with it.

If it is a Proline it will have a 5 inch headtube.
If it has a 4 inch head tube do the following.
Now look inside the bottom bracket.
If it has 4 holes it is a Series 3 frame.
If it has 2 holes it is a MX-II.

Yep, if it's a Pro Line, it will be a 5" headtube. There is a Micro Line that was a 4" in addition to MX II's, but those are fairly rare, really light for those days, and did not have an alphabet prefix. In the late 70's RL's had no letters in their SN#'s from my memory.

"RA" should be a 1981 japanese frame.
