Wondering if anyone can recommend a good online place to buy parts and accessories, browse products etc....retro newschoolish.

Thanks,

coloredtuffs.com is good. Many of the places that advertise on the right are good too.

I'm doing well...Thanks for the warm welcome back and the recommendations...I will dig into them.

Haven't been riding enough lately and have decided get out there again on a daily basis...so I guess I'll be the creepy old guy with the shovel in the woods on a weekday building up the jumps....and then trying to hit them, poorly.

Seems much has changed since I was here last...site looks awesome.....

Hey, this may seem way out there but, can anyone recommend a chrome shop that can do black chrome on a whole 24" frame?

Thanks again,
bbb

Don't mean to get off topic but how is the music going Brendan? Thought it was pretty cool when you played at the banquet a few years ago.

It's going well....We have just become the 1st band in history to release a record that can be played back on the Playstation3 in The new DSD Format....DSD, for those who don't know, is the standard Super Audio CD File Format, but without all the nasty DRM and whatnot. It's better than vinyl. If you go to wheatus.com you can check it out and there are detailed instructions...

Financially, the music industry has really collapsed...if we had to pay a manager we would not be able to keep it going so the only game in town these days is to be 100% independent....There are so many heated discussions going on in the music blogosphere these days...seems that the argument breaks down into 2 camps....people who are comfortable with music being a middle class enterprise and people who are not. Keep in mind, 95% of the work force in the music industry DO NOT actually, write, record or perform anything. They are 'marketing people', and Lawyers...Truth is, there's not enough money in the biz to sustain them anymore, so they are gonna have to get real jobs. But there has never been a better time to be an up and coming independent musician. If you are savvy you can do it all yourself and own your own farm, as it were.

I could go on about this crap for years but then I'd get flagged for not talking BMX...so Back on subject:

I have some size/geometry problems I need some help with....Whose making awesome 177 MM cranks these days? And what about a big pair of cruiser bars, high rise, wide with a steep sweep? I have 2 Skunk Quadangles...one with 180's and one with 175's...The one with the 175's is my main machine and it has Crupi Cruiser bars on it....But it's just a bit to tight for me and I wobble up ramps sometimes if I'm not crouched at a "lower than feels good" position.

So...big cruiser bars and quality 177's will do the trick me thinks....who's making them?

Anyway, thanks and sorry for the off topic rant....That Rockford show was the bomb...I still tell people that I met Harry Leary and he signed my guitar there. Most people just look at me funny...every once in a while some one who is down with VBMX freaks out! Harry will always be a big rock star to me...

Much Thanks,
bbb

Awesome stuff Brendan! Hey check out the Johnny Chopper website, he has a couple styles of that type of cruiser bar in the "retro" section under "BMX Products". As far as 177mm cranks, I'm not sure there. Maybe someone else has some info on that.

Hey Brendan, nice chatting with you back in January, and welcome (back) to the site.

I can't offer any information, but welcome back. smile.gif

I just looked in a few places and it seems that Profile is the only manufacturer producing 177mm cranks currently. I know Bullseye plans on producing new cranks, but who knows when that will happen. There's an ocean of 175mm cranks on the market that mostly look like Profile cranks. Two nice sets are Eastern cranks and the Mc Neil Conjoined arms. Goodluck

welcome back brendan! so whats your collection consist of these days? i remember a few years ago you were on ebay selling off a nomura and a bunch of other stuff...

wheatus
Thanks again for the welcome backs....Yeah I found the 177 Profiles....they look like the only option right now. I'm already running profiles on my Skunk Quad...is ther any chance that the 177 crank arm replacements won't fit my existing spindle?

My collection has dwindled....I've been selling it off for new tube gear for the studio....but I still have some crown jewels wink.gif in the basement....gonna try to hang on to them....It's that damn DB Turbo stuff...I just cannot say no to it...I think maybe if I was able to afford one BITD it wouldn't be such an obsession now....but man...when I see that smoke chrome finish, um, something happens.

Thanks again for the recommends it's very nice to be talking to you peeps again.

Hey Brendan, the 177's will work on the spindle you already have since those too are Profiles.

I know what you are saying about the DB Turbo stuff. I absolutely love that finish!
