Hey all - I picked up a decent set of Reedy pedals, but the cages are a bit squished.
What do you think...can they be returned to their original shape?

They don't look too bad to me. It just depends on what you want. You could always try and get some Helix cages if you want perfection and aren't worried about being totally original

I have a set of helix pedals, which are really nice...but not the real deal.
I am looking to bring these back to the correct shape, and a few skuffs left over are ok by me. I don't want to over-restore them, but I dont want them squished on the ends.

get a section of pvc pipe. make sure the pipes "girth" is the same as the original cages shape.
slide it over the pipe and gently tap it back into shape with a rubber mallot. You can even put a towel over the cage to protect it more.
just a thought.

We are kind of on the same wavelength, Tone.
I was thinking of a section of steel pipe and a bodywork hammer. These things are rare enough that I dont want to permanently damage them.

You don't need a hammer. Use a slightly smaller diameter pipe and just your hands. If you must use a hammer use one with a urethane or phenelic head. Most any good hardware store should have one. Those cages are not bad at all you should have seen mine.

Thanks for the advice. They are in pretty good shape, but I want them to have the nice, round ends on them.
