I have a old complete bmx raliegh racing 5500 according to the decals. However, I do not find this bike listed in the bike museum. Has anyone heard of this bike and know what year and or any other info about it? The serial is 3kf0156. Thanks

Those were on the market from '82 to '84 or so - they had a whole line of bikes with that design, different tube quality was the differentiation - I think there was also a 6600 that was black chrome Reynolds tubing (not a good chrome job either).

They were not a popular bike with racers - bad geometry and the whippy aero tubes and aero fork made for a poor racing bike. Stiff rims though, those rims may be worth more than the rest of the bike. They're Araya Aero's.

Essentially a Huffy Pro Lighting with Raleigh stickers..
FACTORYHUFFY
Built at the HUFFY Factory as well. They had a couple differences. Are you interested in selling it?

huffy and raleigh were owned by the same parent company at the time.

I just picked up an R4000 F/F for $30 and cant wait to build it out. Full 4130 Cro-Mo and after snooping around the Raleigh and the huffy's look very different although they may have shared some design elements. The huffy's all had the typical big box store bird crap welds and the Raleighs had nice dropouts and welds. Much better build and materials.

Should post some pics soon.
