Hi, I'm new to this forum but I did attend the Rockford happening this year so I may have met a few of you.
I apologize in advance if it's bad form for a new member to ask appraisal questions, but desperate times call for.....

I have a Rebel Racing General Lee frame, loop tale, Serial#518. I bought it new, but didn't get the forks or bars with it. The frame is in good shape except for an unfortunate dent in the down tube from a crash. It's not huge, but it's definitely there. Stickers are intact.

A few of my racing friends are eyeballing my stuff and asking how much I want for it. I know you guys probably can't give me an exact appraisal of the frame, but I'm trying to get some kind of idea of how much to ask for. I know these aren't exactly common, and I cannot find any information on them on Ebay.

I'm not a collector. I've got my old bikes from back in the day, and I need to start selling this stuff off to cover the costs of the new bikes that my son and I race.

Any help would be appreciated.

No.
I know from a already searching the forum that someone has been spamming threads and apparently some of those relate to a Rebel frame and fork. I am not that person. More than one person bought a Rebel.
I started this thread because I need help, and I promise not to abuse the privilege.

I have a Rebel General Lee stick tail. I paid 400 for the F&F about 2 years ago. Original Chrome, stickers, no dents or dinks though. Post a pic!! Big thing here is that the frame is only worth what someone will give you. There is no "Kelly blue book" on these. I think thats what MadCowboy was getting at! LOL!

welcome to the site!!!

You may have the bug BITE you again and plan to maybe sell a few and keep a few!!

heres a CRAPPY pic of my Rebel!

Thank you!

The looptails are old Rebels, is that correct? And thus more collectible? So maybe $250 for a frame only looptail with small dent, but in good shape otherwise? Does that seem fair?

I just got back from racing and I'm dog tired, but I'll get a pic up later.
I do understand the concept that it's only worth what people will pay but....let me put it this way:
Some years ago a guy was willing to pay 50 bucks for my Skyway graphites in excellent condition, and that's what I sold them for.
Anyone here think that's what they were worth? ohmy.gif

My point is that I'm trying to get a fair price for my stuff. I don't want someone who knows their stuff to lowball me, and find out later that he turned around and sold it for 3 times what he gave me.
Just doesn't seem right. That's why I'm trying to educate myself.

Yeah, most of this stuff isn't too hard to part with. I've also got a Torker 340 cruiser that a couple of people are trying buy from me. Same deal, I can't tell them a price till I have some idea of what it's worth.
The thing that will be the hardest to let go of is my CWzl. That one was my baby. But it all needs to go. I've got a lot wrapped up in my son's new Redline, and my GHP. We're having a blast racing and I need to recover some of my costs. I'll leave collecting to you experts.

I actually live in Rockford, so I was able to easily attend the event this year. I didn't know this stuff was going on until last summer. I was just blown away! I'm like; you mean this has been happening here for TEN YEARS and nobody told me!?!?!? mad.gif
I assure you, I won't miss another one!

I never saw anyone spamming nor was I referring to that. Perhaps you should have "searched" the very top of this forum for this thread then.

CWRacer,

I have a Rebel Racing General Lee Looptail as well, but mine is one of the first 50 made, because it doesn't have a serial number. I bought it at a yard sale not to long ago my cousin was having for $50 cause he told me it was a B.B. Racing, but I emailed Brock Bruce AND Bernie Anderson and told me it was one of the first 50 rebels made. Scraplord from BMX Museum (don't know if he has an account here) offered me a Sekai F & F, Diamondback complete and Mags, but I refused the offer cause I couldn't let it go. It's real nice, Skyway mags and all, and I think you get the point, but Rebels are pretty rare, and I don't think personally you should sell it. And yes, Looptails were 1st. Gen. and Zeronine type frames were 2nd. Gen. I think the looptails look nicer, not cause they're more rare, but cause they're looptails!

In 2004 I was working at a bike shop in Austin, TX when a guy came in with his mom to buy a bike for college. He had a chrome Rebel looptail as a trade-in. I was glad to offer him $150 off of a new Redline Proline cruiser for the Rebel. Unfortunately I was in dire need of money at the time and ended up selling the bike to P Quinn.

It would have been cool to keep my hands on it.

How much did you sell it to him for?
