I know a guy that builds awesome frames you want me to hook you up? LOL laugh.gif

MadDog as promised a pic of my 125r with 990s with all the wear and tear. Not the best pic in the world but...

This bike was originally blk when I got it but my son wanted something different, so we went with safety yellow. He rides mostly street so I figured a nice bright bike would be good.

MadDog,
Fly brakes are a little wider in the area you talk about. I believe almost every other brake clears. Trusty 990's seem to rock real well. I know many others do work too. Is there any adjustment room at all to bring them in a bit?

Rick

Thanks Rick.

Right now I got it to work, but with no washers. I'm going to try some different brakes.

Thanks.

I've just replaced an AD999 for an Odyssey EVO II on my Trail Boss. The Odyssey gives me an extra 5-10mm of space, even with all the washers in place.

A big thanks to Rick, Jess, and especially Nick. The guy's a Standard built me a pair of custom one off 24 and 26" retro forks. I just received them yesturday and couldn't be happier. They are just what I asked for and the quality is second to none. The chrome plating is perfect as well. I am still working on my builds but I will post some pictures as soon as I can.

If you guys have an idea for a dream bike the guys are Standard are the ones to talk to. Made right here in the heartland of the good ol'USA!

Thanks agin,
larry

...but I'm saving my coins so I can make some additions to go along with my new frame.

It was fun at Springfield I parked "Project Lowdown" in front of the Standard trailer with the team bikes and everyone was like, WOW thats kool!! And I think everyone had to touch it at least once. I just wished the sun would have come out to really show it off, and I hope somebody got some pics cause I forgot my camera.

Did anyone get pics of the little kid riding his little pit bike thru the mud? I know he was getting plenty of encouragement sarcastic.gif

bmx donation cause...

I could really use some paypal as for I have had to buy paint, and need 1'' threaded heatsets, and pay some freight to ship bikes to non-local powder coaters.

As soon as the bikes come back, you will have some pics, but im dead in the water without frames, and parts coming to me in the mail this week and next week, but i will keep everyone watching posted.

PAYPAL- a100dork3@yahoo.com. even if it is $2.00 a person it adds up!! I been buying what i can, but on a single income right now as wife has been off work due to our newborn!! So i dont have alot extra to spend!!

DID YOU GUYS EVER READ THIS?

DAVENPORT — Here's some advice: Don't steal a bike near the Goodtimes Superstore, especially if a pro BMX biker is watching.

"I just look out for the kids, regardless," said Rick Moliterno, freestyle BMX legend and owner of Goodtimes and locally made Standard Byke Co. Looking out for the kids includes chasing down a bike thief 30 years his junior.

Sunday afternoon, 15-year-old Trae Edwards was in Mr. Moliterno's shop at 1601 W. Locust St., looking at new pedals for his pieced-together BMX bike. Unable to afford them, he went across the street to a Wendy"s restaurant to grab a sandwich with the few dollars he had. He left his bike unlocked outside the restaurant — a decision he later regretted.

"My girlfriend, Jessie (Smeltzer), saw him from upstairs and thought, ‘Man, he should have left (his bike) at Goodtimes," " Mr. Moliterno said. "A few minutes later, Jessie says, ‘Some kid"s stealing his bike." "

Mr. Moliterno immediately threw on some shoes and grabbed his bike, asking his girlfriend, "What does he look like, and where did he go?"

The thief, described as about 14 years old, had a two-block lead on Mr. Moliterno, 44. But Mr. Moliterno is no slouch on a bike. In the last 30 years he had became famous, first for cutting his teeth on BMX bike tracks and later performing tricks on the streets.

"It was kind of funny because the kid just stole a bike across the street from the place bikes are sold and designed, right in front of a guy who makes them," he said.

Karma also stepped in for Mr. Moliterno: one of the pedals Mr. Edwards wanted to replace fell off, slowing the thief's getaway. Mr. Moliterno caught up to the assailant on 14th Street and said firmly, "Hey, I gotta have that bike now. I'm not going to turn you in, just hand it over."

The thief complied and left, but not before Mr. Moliterno gave him a bit of advice: "Don't steal bikes, especially BMX bikes."

Meanwhile, Ms. Smeltzer had picked up Mr. Edwards in a truck. By the time they caught up with Mr. Moliterno, he was towing Mr. Edwards" bike behind his own.

"Rick's a beast," Mr. Edwards said.

Mr. Moliterno was just happy he could prevent one more kid from dealing with the heartbreak and anger of getting ripped off.

"That feeling is sick," he said. "A lot of bikes get stolen. It's good to get at least one back."

News of Moliterno's good deed goes global

The chase after a bike thief was only a few blocks long Sunday, but the news of the effort traveled across the globe. Sunday, BMX legend Rick Moliterno — who owns the shop Goodtimes in Davenport as well as Standard Byke Co. — witnessed a bike theft across the street from Goodtimes, chased after the thief on his own bike, and retrieved it for the owner, Trae Edwards, 15, of Davenport. After a story in The Dispatch and The Rock Island Argus Thursday, the news spread across the Web, from weird news digest Fark.com to ESPN, as commentors on the sites lauded Mr. Moliterno for his actions. He also got a "good job" on Twitter from seven-time Tour de France winner Lance Armstrong. As for Mr. Edwards, a customer of Goodtimes offered to buy him the new pedals he needed for his bike. --

QuadCities,USA.

Davenport and Bettendorf, Iowa and Rock Island and Moline, Illinois. This is where I grew up, river towns on the Mississippi. None of us knew it, but apparently river towns are historically rough places. We loved it because our towns were immortalized in movies and music. The Blues Brothers, Kiss, Johnny Cash, Bob Segar, we were proud of where we came from and puzzled when we went other places and were maybe a little more edgy and aggressive than other people. But its how we grew up, it was from where we grew up. In this industry its more than too often misunderstood and maligned, the attitude, the style, the influence. its not that we are all “act a like” we are all a like and it has rubbed people the wrong way in the past. This may not really be a story about our town, but in a round about way it is…

I grew up “on top of the hill” barely on top of the hill just up from a midwest version of a housing project in the late 70’s early 80’s this was not a place you wanted to go near. We were sure there were bodies buried in there, our school busses wouldnt go in there, and if you rode your bike within a block you deserved to get you “ass kicked and your poop poop poop, I say again, poop tooken”. I was probably 11 or 12 when I heard a story that I couldnt believe and got me hooked on the BMX scene 100%.

The guy that worked at the bike shop, Bike ‘n Hike, where we all hung out had a brand new chrome GT for 3 days, won a huge Pro race with it and then had it stolen the next day and it was in “TurnKey”, the projects… Wow that sucks, gone forever.

No.

Rumor had it that dude went into the project by himself at night, we all figured he must have had a gun, and came out alive with the bike. I didnt believe it and sprinted the 10 blocks to the bike shop on my red generic Schwinn’ish bike with the gold Elina seat with red lighting bolts and yellow snake belly tires to see if this was true, it was. It was the first time I had actually opened my mouth to talk to Rick, the dude who worked at the shop, other than to say I just looking around or “how much is that sticker?”

The whole thing not only solidified my love for riding bikes, but it gave all of us a boost that we needed to hold our heads up or pretend that we were bad ass because someone who rode bikes like we do was kicking down doors in the projects to get his bike back. It was a huge thing for kids who had to fight most days just to keep from getting their bike stolen riding to the park.

A few moths ago, this happened:

http://www.standardbyke.com/blog/?p=1122

And the same guy did the same thing for the next generation of kids who love riding their bmx bikes. It was a huge story, nationally blown up, but just normal for us and where we are from. So, Im vomiting all this crap out today because this morning, while taking a 5 minuted coffee break at his 7am skatepark session, Rick Moliterno’s bike was taken out of a pile of bikes. While there are people in the industry who think well, he probably “has 100 bikes” or something like that, not true and not the point of all this. He has one bike, and its a pretty big deal, this bike. He would love to have it back and this is what he told me in an email about the bike:

My bike was my first and only bike made here in our shop. It had unique engraving on the head tube and drop outs. It had a custom green paint job to match my 1963 Ford Galaxie. The fork had straight cut legs and a freestyle steer tube instead of race. The compression bolt was a sample we never sold.
It had a titanium Standard front peg that is like 10 years old. Oh yeah, the frame has euro bb and a 27.0 seat tube…2 things no other freestyle frames that are up to date have. Man, I loved that damn bike! It had so much I liked plus being the first one from here and being the one I am getting back to riding full time on again….

What I am asking you all to do is repost and forward this post as much as you can to keep the word out there. Watch eBay and the forums and boards, let us know if you see it, if you have it bring it back. Local kids, keep in touch, on the interwebs, you can hit us up at info@standardbyke.com twitter.com/standrdbykeco or hit Rick up on Facebook.

This is kind of a long winded way to tell you all that Rick Moliterno, owner of Standard Byke Company had his bike stolen and would like some help getting it back. But its a little deeper than that this time.

Thanks in advance for all your help, please share this story with all your peoples.

Got that right. Rob is an artist and incredibly speedy. Here's a plate he's building for me.

This Donny Robinson shaped wind sucker will front end my soon-to-be-built 20" Standard 125r, hereafter referred to as the supersonic soil surfer (or soil snurfer, depending on whether or not I remember how to ride a tiny bike). I've got an OM symbol on there to counteract Moriarty's negative waves and my wife's name (Alice) in Arabic script, since she's 1/2 Lebanese.

Cheers,

I will be getting with Rob soon. Really digging the Standard themed plates guess that means I'll have to be buying three. smile.gif
