Congrads NEWer DAD. I love it and wouldnt change it for a world, as much as i wanted a boy, I love my lil girl, and she is going to be spoiled with STANDARD BYKES and a JR dragster. Then mom can do whatever she wants elsewise, lol

I had my shirt made, I got the shirt at toys r us, and the mall did the stiching. But Jess @SBC told me to get some baby shirts and they can make them the real way!!! or i can make a stiched one, since i already got stuck withthe set up fee. so all i would need is a baby shirt and pay to have it stiched.
sportsmetal
i'm a big standard fan, have been for years, i still have 2 absolute pearlers,

but "standard BABY shirts"???

come on guys, let standard bykes have a little dignity please,

what happened to "quality,INTEGRITY,pride" ??

i love what you're doing for sbc nick but i cant help feeling this is all going a bit too far.

indylodown
here are a couple sneek peek shots of "project lodown"

sometimes its green, sometimes its red, sometimes its bronze but its always black.

There was still one more step to the process after these pics were taking. I should have finished pics of the frame hopefully sometime this evening. Nick and I will be showing the step by step process of this awesome color. Maybe even some full pics of the finished project. biggrin.gif

Not at all I think its great. Why can't the baby fly the Standard colors. The support is real, true, and from the heart. That's what makes the army strong.
sportsmetal
its fine for a bit of a laugh but all i'm saying is if you go too far you'll damage what you love,
standard bykes teddy bear next? sbcdestroy dog collar? 63 toothbrush? lol,

inorder to survive be a strong contender again in the modern bmx industry sbc needs to be taken seriously,
i dont see any other big bmx company making babywear,
part of me feels bad for reacting this way but i just eel i needed to be said,
i love what rick is doing with the custom frames, and the ones i've seen are amazing, i can see one in my future,

and as far as the standard army i'm a 100% paid in full member, sbc has had my support for long, long time, i was restoring, building and spreading praise for sbc for years and still do, and have spent thousands on their products since way back in the 90's, $900 dollars for a STA ox-plat anyone? i met my wife while riding it and i can still see that frame from where i'm sat now,
only a few years ago pretty much no one on these forums showed that much interest in sbc, but a few of us were right there pushing them,

again only to reiterate i feel bad for pointing the reason for this out and if it makes you happy i wish you all the best mate,
and its only because i care that i did post it,tbh its the very first negative thing i've ever had to say about standard.

i only want to see the phoenix rise from the ashes and fly again, credibility intactus,

and lastly, hey! its only my opinion and they're like assholes eh? everones got one, lol,

best of luck to rick and sbc as always.

indylodown
sportsmetal first let me say its all good. Also your red Standard is out of this world cool, I've admired it since the first time you posted pics of it. We all have our own way of expressing our support so like I said its all good. I don't think we have to worry about any Standard bears in the near future. biggrin.gif
indylodown
ohmy.gif here they are as I promised finished pics of the amazing powder job done on "project lodown" and some very revealing shots. I am so stoked right now I can't wait to get this home and get it built.

This was a trial run of this type of powder and I have to say it turned out flipping (pun intended) awesome. I'm sure Nick will be able to describe in more detail. I have to say again Nick, Rick and the crew at Standard bykes have outdone themselves from start to finish on this project and all I can say is THANK YOU. smile.gif

Yes there will be no teddy bears. So I made her a shirt to match her bike. Most people thought it was cool and it was ment to be fun! There is no STANDARD baby line. It was for a laugh, and the love of a company that continues to grow strong... I see it the shirt is QUALITY and full of PRIDE! Thank you. Next topic.......

I had the thruster bar figured out, great idea.
superjeer
That's a cool powder job. What's with the middle tube? smile.gif

sportsmetal - why do you hate babies? tongue.gif I didn't want a onesy sbc shirt, I wanted the green and yellow one for me.

Nick made up the tiny shirt himself for his kid. It's not like you can go to http://www.goodtimessuperstore.com/ and get a baby shirt.

OLD FRAME RESTORE/CUSTOM

FIRST IT IS CHEM STRIPPED.

superjeer
wow two replies while I typed mine. and I'm a fast typer!
nvmyslowride
THEN IT IS MEDIA BLASTED. MOST POWDER GUYS DONT DO THIS 2 STAGE!!

nvmyslowride
After shooting ready to go into the oven......lol the pic that has the spots in it is using the flash and those spots are actually flakes floating in the air reflecting the flash.

nvmyslowride
THEN THE 2ND STAGE OF CLEAR IS ADDED, WHICH MAKES IT POP!!!!

These pics dont do it justice....the green is much more brillant and the flip is awesome....

THANKS FOR LETTING US DO THIS INDY!!!!

This is a very new and special color, and not a cheap process. But it is 2 stage, alot of prep, and worth every penny. if you want custom, you need a custom color. Powder is not what it was 2 -5 yrs ago, it is so far advanced and the longtivity is amazing..
nvmyslowride
I have about 60 pics of the whole process, but you get the idea for now!! I dont have that much time! I have a baby now. God night to all, and thanks for the kind words.

to be continued........................................

Superjeer heres where I got my idea. This is my favorite bike in my collection (one owner - me biggrin.gif ) it is the last bike I raced BITD. I've wanted to build a modern version for a long time, so I decided to send my backup frame to Standard for a little custom work. When I get my new one built there will be a photo shoot of both old and new together.

Nick likes SBC and made his newborn a shirt with my company name on it on his own time and with his own dollars. I didn't know a thing about it until he showed me the photos. I am honored that he thought enough of SBC to do that.
I have ALWAYS been about being cutting edge. Riding or building our bikes. If you remember when we started you know what I am referring to. Nothing has changed in that regard. We finally have an operation where we have the ability to control all production, update, and creativity. I loved Waterford but we are better now for doing this ourselves.
Please do not confuse Nick's love for SBC as shown on his daughter's sweet little shirt as any kind of avenue we are going down.
I am all about pushing the future of BMX. In regards to the vintage stuff...I was there and rode it all so I love and respect that too. It is all fun. It is BMX.
And most of all thank you for being a Standard supporter that gives a ..... enough to speak your mind. THAT I do admire.
Respectfully,
Rick Moliterno

Hey Indy...Did I tell you in Louisville that I am wanting to build a Thruster inspired 24" wheel tandem? Your project color is so dope I may have to use it as a tribute to your bike as well as to make my project look great. I am a huge fan of green flavored bikes!

now i feel even worse,lol,

thats an amazing response rick, thanks,

i was really pleased when i read the news that you'd taken the brave step to manufacture in-house,
and from seeing the results you did exactly the right thing,
everything about the stuff you're putting out looks of the highest "bespoke" quality, the welding, the mitreing, everything,
i'm really enjoying working on idea's for a custom and look forward to ordering,

like you said, standard have always been right at the cutting edge and clearly still are,
i guess it just rattled me opening this thread and seeing all the family photo's in this thread i've been following since page 1,
i had no problem at all with nicks 1-off baby shirt a few pages back and in truth thought it very sweet,
you and nick and everyone else at standard have my full support and maybe i'm a little anxious that the lion goes from strength to strength,

thanks again for the reply and for making the finest frames and parts in the world,

sbc forever dude.

ps, the comments had nothing at all to do with nick beautiful new baby,i have a much loved and adored son myself, one of the sta ox-plat i mentioned i'm keeping for him,as a memento, so i'm not without heart!
it was dark navy blue when i bought it but i stripped and powdered it soon after,

anyways,
the very best of luck as always.

finish is gorgeous.

You may have something here...although I always liked the back end/ dropout situation on Thruster's. I never bought one in the old days as I preferred quicker handling bikes (JMC!).
