I ordered two SBC themed Johnson plates today. I'll post up the final proofs and end product when done. I've been waiting for this since page 30 biggrin.gif (I spent hours last night looking for the first plate in this thread).

WAITING ON FORKS, BARS AND CRANKS...

Strip bars? 125R forks? Pimplite Cranks? Your bike is going to be quite possibly the most top notch beginner bike on the track!!

Nice... I talked to Rick and I'll be ordering bars and forks as soon as the stems are available. I'm also ordering new wheels from Dexter.

Profile Hubs - Gold
Alienation Deviant/Runaway rims - Polished
Black spokes, Gold alloy nipples

Then the ride is complete.

I was gonna go with gold rims, but after putting DXR's on my bike I realized that polished hoops would balance things out more.

I want some new cranks. But I just love the way profiles look on a Standard. And I am trying to set my bike up more trails/ street.

I think the saints looked perfect on the standard, same feel as DXR's without the beefy look. I just swapped my saints to my bro's ride and put DXR's on mine and wish I didn't. The chainline and fit is much better, but the look isn't as great. I think the Supercross Sinners look awesome (sack's bike) as well, but they are impossible to find and the new model was supposed to come out a few months ago and no word yet.

I remember BITD I tried to run 185mm cranks and the first race I clipped my pedal on a berm and spilled. 180's were my perfect size, but as I've gotten older shorter cranks seem to work better as it's less of a circumference to spin.

I've tried 175, 180, 182 and 185s. The 185s are the only ones I don't lift from. I'd say I was fastest my first year while running 175s on a 44/15 set up. But that was a at the end of the year back when I was stronger smile.gif Now I run 185s on a 45/16 setup. Plus, and this is the most important part, running 185s keeps me from wanting these $$$ cranks all you people are running smile.gif

I was lifting off my back pedal on the upstroke for about the first hour riding on 175's. Then I adjusted and they felt awesome. Then again I went from 180mm, clips and a 44-16 to 175mm, flats and a 42-15... So I'm sure it was a combination of all those. They feel awesome now though.

I would not suggest doing that I think that it would be a bad idea... you have to ask yourself is going back threw shoulder surgery worth it?

ya, well then come on over, I have 6 bikes ready to shred and 1 unicycle. lol, dont worry mom/wife/Kristen, I think my wife would kill me if I went for a ride. lol. I think thats why she had me put all my bikes in the basement. I'm not supposed to lift anything over a gallon of milk. Wonder what my wife would say if she saw me lifting the ice cream and cranberry juice at the grocery store like I did today. Back to topic at hand, still love Doug E Fresh pics on the gold byke. He's a hell of a rider, and a great guy. Fast, very fast. Had the pleasure of taking 2nd to him a couple of times. Can at least say I was kind of close and I have pics to prove it going down 3rd straight at Louisville, not close enough for a pass, but still close. lol

I am 6'0. I am riding a 21.5 TT on my 20 inch.

Cranks are installed...

Still waiting on my gold anodized chainring from Rennen

I'm also ordering a new set of wheels, Gold profile hubs, polished alienation deviant/runaways with black spokes and gold nipples. Then she's complete, at least until Standard is done with a batch of stems. Then it's 125R forks, standard stem and strip bars.

I'm 6-1 and riding the same sized 20" and the cruiser feels a lil cramped.
Brandon002
yeah, rule of thumb is that you should go up at least a half inch from your 20 to your cruiser.

Oh, I know. I have Nick to thank.

Only reason I'm getting new wheels is that the DXR's ruined the look of the bike. I need something else large, and polished to offset those cranks. So it's polished hoops. I was gonna have my current hubs laced up to the new rims, but my brother needs new wheels and my current set are mint and perfectly true so they are going on his ride.

As soon as my new wheels arrive it's time to start piecing together my cruiser. First call will be to Rick for a 22" top tube 125RC.

Yeah, I'm on facebook. Brandon Erdmann, Chicago IL

Riding went great. I felt squirrely as hell the first two or three times around the track and then it started to come back to me. Almost fell over in the gate my first time up too. About an hour into riding I was manualing like a king, still couldn't get the nerve to jump again though. That will come for sure. Only pain I felt was in my right hand, towards the end of the night I was losing my grip on the bars with that hand. Wasn't very sore the next day, but two days later I could barely walk upright. 3 months of sitting and doing nothing really beat me to the out of shape side of things.

I hear ya. Even my 4 weeks off the bike with my collarbone coupled with lots of beer put me in pretty bad shape on the bike. I just added you on FB. And it's awesome that the skills came right back. You'll be ready for Expert in no time with the sickkyyy bike you got going on!

If it weren't for fear of looking like a fool at the midwest nationals I'd just bump myself up to expert. I usually end up racing experts at our local races anyway. I love it though, makes me push harder and you get a lot more points. I get more points for taking a 4th in expert then a 1st in inter. First time I got combined with expert at Rockford I took 2nd out of 7 riders. Of which 5 were expert.

I think a lot of my issues right off the bat were...

Not riding at all for three months
Completely new bike (frame, shorter cranks etc..)
changing from clips to flats

Once I got used to everything it felt great. I can't believe how much smoother the standard rides then my Clayborn did. God I missed riding on steel.
mannequinforce
Steel is the shizzz. Hey man don't rush things. I am trying to go X but realized coming off an injury there is no need to hurry up and get there. Just enjoy the rideeee.

Me too, mate. I've just started racing 40+ cruiser here in the UK, I'm using an old 125RC I picked up on ebay for cheap. I'm going to see how I get on with that for now... if it's as good as racing in the Old School Class, then I'll be giving SBC another custom order wink.gif
