So, Saturday I went down to ABA's new track, Hampton SuperTrack in Southern VA - opposite Langley AFB. I think I counted 17 new Standards at the track, maybe even more..

There was approx 50 or so riders for Hamptons first ABA gate practice, and the place was swarming with the SBC army, from groms to old farts like me..

Little Abby McLeod was rocking a custom blue, orange, white fade paint job to match our HBR colors, it looked so trick, so much so that I believe big sis has one on order now too..

I finally got to ride my new bike too; it was totally worth the wait. My gates were a little off, having not ridden since Nov, but after an hour I was rockin. It was like jumping on my 4 yr old One frame, it just handled so well, no flex, but soo smooth on the bumpy corners. Once I got the gates dialled in I gave a few of the youngsters and some of the Single A's a good run on my flats and cleared the triples end of the first straight. No idea why, just went for it, new bike psych eh?.

Am super happy, thanks Rick and everybody at Standard for sorting the bike, I've got no excuses not to get a win or two this yr with this bike. smile.gif

Cheers, Hoppy

I missed district number 63 by one freaking place. My nephew ended up at 63... I'm gonna beat him like a red headed step child.

I beat him by something like 15 points. Guess I shouldn't have pedaled as hard down the first straight my last time out. Damn.

I guess I have to buy him a 100R now.

This is very cool to read. I appreciate the comments as well as any feedback any time. I may ride but I am only 1 rider. I always want to hear it all. Input is how we improve!
Thank you!

It was awesome, normally us cromo guys are swamped by Intense and Kuwahara frames, but they found themselves outnumbered, it was quite surreal to be honest, like stepping back 15yrs. At one point I was sat on the first berm with 6 Standards and an Intense, normally it's the other way round. Certainly the Accel/PowersBikeShop team where repping their new bikes (I spotted three kids who had instantly improved from being on a bike that is made to fit them and made for the track not an online catalogue somewhere) and so many guys were planning on ordering one, or two, too. What was cool was my team (HBR) also had a load of riders on them aswell, and we are sponSorEd by another Racing frame manufacturer (can you spot the hint). You got to ride what you can win right? There was some really happy, and improved, kids out there saturday, I'd say job well done if you could see their faces. I wish I'd taken a photo or two now..

I'm such a gen-x skater type. Reading this makes me want to trade in my R*125s for something less popular.

I know what you mean, it was funny being on a 'popular bike' this weekend. Having raced an S&M and One Bicycles (which almost nobody has over here, or even heard of in some cases) for the last 6 yrs when so few have been around.

I think a lot of this weekend was parents investing wisely too, no need to buy the latest 'coke can' bike each yr, a quick paint job maybe, but there were kids out at the weekend on American BB 125s, as well as the latest frames.

Popular or not though now, I have a bike I dont need to trade after every hard season cos I am worried about breaking it, I can take it the trails and park, I can hit the streets (often literally seeing as I suck at street riding) and still know that I am on a bike built for the track. I'm even excited about doing sprints again just so I can ride.. huh.gif

Hahaha! OK, hold on guys! This was one practice session at one track. I have some people in other parts of the country and Canada ask me if we are even building bikes since they don't ever see any 125's. There is still work to be done. Now if I just had a huge marketing budget(or even a budget!), RV, new trailer, a load of inventory.......

I'm sure you can get one of these for the price of one frame, or less. Just slap a giant SBC sticker on the side and roll out. Just make sure to bring your AAA card. smile.gif

Extend that roof down a bit more in the back, add a lip and you have a mobile quarter pipe. I say go for it.

Working on it now, it's together and I'm uploading pics. Just need to make some minor adjustments (seat, bars etc...) and I'm set to rock. I'll post pics in a second, will post better pics tomorrow when it's light out and I can snap some.

Still waiting on my gold rennen 42t chainring and profile 15t cog, but I put the polished 44-16 setup on for now. Profile stuff should be here Thursday, Rennen gear next week as rennen has to anodize it.

Only issue I ran into was the chain hitting the seat stay with a 44-16. With Saint cranks you have to run the rear cog out a little further then normal, this problem will be solved once the 42-15 gets installed. Other then that it's golden.

Frame: Standard 125R 21.5
Fork: S&M Race XLT
Headset: FBM Integrated
Stem: S&M Race XLT
Bars: S&M Race XLT
Brakes: Shimano DXR w/Jagwire Switchback pads and Odyssey Linear Mesh Cable
Grips: Odi Lock-on Longnecks w/gold anodized lock jaws
Seatpost: Thomson Elite
Seat: Flybikes Fino
Seat Clamp: United Squad
Rims: Rhyno Lite XL, stainless spokes, alloy nipples
Hubs: Profile Mini
Tires: ITS MKII Micro Knobbies (1.75 rear, 2.0 front)
Cranks: Shimano Saint
Gear: Rennen
Tensioners: Profile
Chain: SRAM
Pedals: Sun Ringle Zu-Zu / Shimano PD-M545
nvmyslowride
Looks great copy cat. and your welcome, lol
Brandon002
I'm still in awe at the quality of the frame. The welds are so damn perfect, the brake posts aligned perfectly and I was able to slam the rear wheel and still have my pads reach (something I couldn't do on the clayborn), it's just a freaking perfect frame. The powder job is immaculate as well.

I can not wait to ride this thing. I'm hoping the weather is as warm tomorrow as it was today so I can take this thing around a bit on the street.

Ok, that is hot. The full S&M front end looks spot on, btw. It's like chocolate to mix with peanut butter...not sure which is which though. Maybe Standard is the chocolate here.

I honestly haven't been this excited over a bike since I got my S&M Holmes back in 1992. This one tops that. It's even better looking in person.

Brandon - Looks great! I can't wait for the close ups.

ok so both sides of the bars have got matching marks and the plate took a bit of a hit but all survived. I guess call them battle scars. It just sucks it was the first trip out.

I've got an awesome set of tools but I think this one is toast

sad.gif

Brandon002
I never thought steel could be this light either. The combo of the 125R frame, S&M forks, S&M bars makes for one light bike. In hand it feels lighter then my aluminum Clayborn. I'm gonna ride it tomorrow, I don't care if it's freezing cold outside.

The first scratches are always the hardest...

and I'd agree, that rear wheel is toasted. Wow.
nvmyslowride
Looks like I will be stripping my decals after talking to ROB about a new plate, and bike theme. Going to be a one of a kind knock out!!!

Ouch scott. I should be able to get you matching powder if you want to redo those bars, or call shawn direct.. It sucks about the crash, but glad your ok. after reading all the racing bad stories in the racing section, and seeing these, maybe im not that pumped for my first season, lol
