Whats everyone think of the bars?

Bars look cool cool.gif & I love the thread! I already made my pr. last summer. smile.gif

nvmyslowride
This thread is only going to get bigger and grow with time, there are some super sick projects being built.
nvmyslowride
Here is a pair of Kawasaki green crank arms we had done for a customer that wanted them to match his frame and bars! Should be a sweet color combo.

Also here are a group shots of a variety of colors and styles and products we shipped today. Some 125R's, a custom STA, some 4 piece bars, 2 piece bars, a 250L, etc. That is Jessie's custom cruiser lurking back there as well.

Rick

Ok people I have a question to ask, or a idea. Like the bikes shown below we have like 75-100 old used frames, some good, some bad, some beat. One may need a new dropout or a tube. One may have a ding or 2. If SBC were to referb these bikes, would there be a market to sell them? It would be as strong as new with fresh powder. There is all types of bikes and years it would take forever to make a list, but if there is a market, we can do it a few at a time.

Just a idea!!!

JiveHandle
Nick,

I say go for it! Rehab those babies.

nvmyslowride
They are a 70's webco magnisum wheel. ULTRA RARE!! sold for a VERY good price in those conditions. They were cool! Honestly just needed a good soda blasting and some TLC and they would have been super sweet!! They went to a good home!
nvmyslowride
7/8" laid back seat posts are being reproduced. (or any other size) are now being offered by SBC

We don't plan to make any of these old school inspired bikes and parts regular Standard production pieces for sale. We are really having some fun showing some shop abilities and making some interesting bikes for our rider friends that want them. The current Standard line up is still where we focus the majority of our attention as I feel these bikes best represent what today's performance bikes should be build like. We have done 17 years of research, development and refinement to get our current line up where it is today. Many years of hard riding by myself and the many team riders over the years has also been a huge help in directing us on how we feel the bikes should be built. I am having a blast building this cool stuff influenced by a time when we were all much younger. I also love building bikes that are in direct line with today's riders and their riding styles. All of the fun stuff I keep seeing here on Vintage is a blast. Keep it coming and we'll keep making your crazy ideas come to life as well!

With all of the Standard threads on here lately, I've been biting my tongue waiting to share my newest ride with you guys, as I got the parts together. Rick, Jess and the SBC crew really created something special for me, and I can't say enough about the build quality and ease of working with them. It was approx 5 weeks from the day I wrote Rick and spoke to Jess, to the day it was delivered. The welds and powder quality are excellent.

So, here it is, my custom 2009 Standard 24" 250SC (C for Cruiser, of course). I wanted this to be a street machine that I can bash around without worry. It is built similar to the race cruiser specs, but with the 250S tubing (S is for Street), thus built to be ridden, hard. 22" top tube, integrated h/s, drilled for gyro tabs, mid bb and 990 seatstay mounts round out the specs.

The blue powder color is loosely based on the Hutch candy blue - at least that's why I picked it - I wanted to create something similar to my TS that I had in 85 - including much of the blue/white/chrome color scheme. I found the chrome S&M forks on the 'Bay, and many of the other parts were items I had around, including the older-style standard stem (i might have it powdered white) and the 30T Standard sprocket. A bunch of odyssey parts round out the build.

I hope you dig the photos. I'll be posting a more thorough build list on my site, and on the Museum. Rode it for a few minutes at midnight last night after building it, and then a couple hours tonight. Love the way it feels. The 2.10 Odyssey tire in the rear is BARELY rubbing the brake, so I'll probably switch to a 1.85 or 1.75 Maxxis. Riding photos to come.

Oh, and I'm loving the t-RICK-STAr. Nice.

nvmyslowride
This questions always gets asked, and i should have done this long ago. so here I go.

My name is Nick . I am 30 yrs old and from Moline IL, 5 Min from SBC. I am NOT A REAL EMPLOYEE!! I work In the diesel field.

Just a dedicated helper to Rick and the crew. I was die hard back into BMX in the 1990's with my Cooks bro's frame, Hyper XL, Hoffman TAJ, and a bunch of others I wish i still had. I always rode all nighters at Rampage and met some super cool people, that I am still friends with today! I met Rick Like 15-16 yrs about at rampage. I always shopped at his Goodtimes Stores, and he was always friendly to everyone and we all loved the SBC product. Even tho back then i couldnt afford a SBC it was always decked out with the gear, SBC AXLES, 6 PIECE STRIP BARS, PEGS, ANYTHING STANDARD i could find. Finally got a STA. I still remember the time Rick asked to ride my hoffman, which was sick, he rode it and said he liked it, but it wasnt a Standard. It was a 50 pound tank the way I had it set up.

So fast forward 10-15 yrs. So I get a call from the designer/builder of SBC a buddy who wanted me to sell some stuff for Rick, so we got back in touch, and been selling SBC since. So now I am trying to get back into BMX now being a new family man, and other things in life, piecing together what i have always wanted, Building my daughter her mini (which she is due to arrive anyday), My wife wants one now and to be pink like the daughters and so on. I have some Plans on doing a crazy 20'' design that is all 1980's. Id like to get back into shape and maybe race a few times.

I talk on the phone with Rick almost daily keeping in touch, going to the shop to get you guys pics and updates, coming up with crazy ideas and just having fun with Rick, jess and the gang!! So for the people who ask where do you get your knowledge of SBC, that would be from my friend RICK M. Who is teaching me customs and all the up to date stuff, since I am still Old school or Mid school as they call it today. Since he is busy running his shop and doing business I consider my self like his buffer, people go through me, and I forward the info, or most I can answer or quote myself and take the orders myself.

Im die hard on what I do and believe in, and For the people who have delt with me, I hope you have good opinions of SBC and Me and I always try to keep you guys in the loop with emails, updates, and so on. I have met so many cool people on VINTAGE I hope it continues, and from the looks of it, Standard will always be on top thanks to you guys.

Sorry to bore ya, but I have had people ask, WHO ARE YOU!! Well this is me and I will be more then happy to help you in anyway I can and make you have a simple, enjoyable experence with us. And Im trying to make customer service #1.

Thank you

Nick z

Me maybe like 15 yrs ago, RAMPAGE DAVENPORT IA

This is my rig all done up. I want to thank my girlfriend, for letting me spend so much money on this thing and all my friends who cut me great deals. I am doing the college broke thing, working for 7 bucks an hour so this build could not have happened without all my friends helping me out. I am really proud of this build because I never though it would happen. It was always just a dream. Now I finally have a bike that fits me and rides smooth as butter.

Another Crazy BMXican,
Larry
