cool.

nice design with the paint.

Very nice. Great paint work. But I'm quite a stickler for details biggrin.gif. First, those handlebars and neck must GO asap. They just don't look right at all. Try an old classic Wald neck, and then "Bull Dog" style handlebars. Such as the type typically found on many Muscle Bikes. Use that kind of neck and that style of handle bars and you are good to go! I'll post a pic tomorrow of what I'm talking about. Second, the kinds of crankshafts and sprokets is something that you have to decide-try sticking to something from the era (40s-late60s/early70s will work great).

Do you plan to add fenders or a chaingaurd?

Still a nice bike, I just have to add my suggestions.

The paint scheme is the original design that Schwinn had on the bike. I purchased the stencils from a guy who makes repros.

As far as being a stickler for details....this isn't a restoration project, but a hybrid of a Klunker and a 26" BMX cruiser. wink.gif

I know it's not a restoration. It's a Rat Rod. Just my suggestion on parts. Whatever floats you're boat biggrin.gif .

Me boat be floatin' wink.gif

So far so good...I think the longer it dries the tougher it gets.

The handlebars are Skull Skates Chromo BMX Cruiser bars.

I just picked up a 1952 Spitfire & a 1950 Murray tank bike last week.
I am chuffed about doing a couple"Ratrods"& may stick a motor on the Murray.
That is an awsome build.
Do tell where to get the stencils.

I bought the stencils off of Ebay.

Just search for "Schwinn Stencils" and you should find them.

Feel free to visit my site for a bit of inspiration. smile.gif

Hey, it looks great!!!! I've been dragging my feet on my two RoadMaster projects. I know, shame on me.

yeah, there is A LOT of inspiration on that site!!!!

Switched parts around a little for comfort.

Here is the finished bike all ready for Repack. biggrin.gif

Chris
RatRod I like the"standers"
I am now hooked on the"Klunker"projects w/3 x 5 drivetrain & drum brakes or welded on Canti's.
I love the B72 Saddles.
Keep on truckin.
I will post pics when I get some projects finished(months or years?)

Thanks Chris...I had them laying in a box and thought....hey, those would be cool...ha ha.

Sounds like you have a cool bike going. One day I hope to build an authentic Klunker repro.

Not sure if I'll ever have the bank account for it. I do know of a source for an NOS 70s Suntour Cyclone derailleur.

One day I'll have enough to buy that thing!

+1 on the gears and drums, and the more BMX influence the better for me. I think hybrids are way more interesting then stock restorations, besides I like to build bikes that where ridden while I was alive. Thanks for the stencil info.

This thing is the sickness and I just wanted to bump it. I love this dude and his rat rod touch.

Proof that as long as a brooks saddle goes on, anything can be taken seriously.

Dude has a designer's touch.

edit.

By far one of the most interesting threads here in the MTB forums. What is the function of the two skinny bars in front of the fork?
62panel
I LOVE it!! are those Schwinn Studded Balloon tires available Somewhere?? what kind of bars did you end up using?
TuRBo Todd Britton

They are called "Truss" bars. They perform the obvious which is to provide another route for stress, from the axle, to the frame so you don't bust your head wide open and bleed into the rain gutter.

Storm drain.

great, now I keep going over to his ratrod site and drooling over the gallery photos! I want to build a board track racer!!!!!!!!!!
