That's cool, I didn't think it was that easy. I mean there is a notch around the pegs and I thought that might have something to do with it.

That notch is probably for a 14mm to 3/8th adapter.

I have used those pegs before. There are actually 4 notches in each peg that a washer fit into. That washer has a tab that is bent 90 degrees and fits into the dropout slot. What this does is keeps the peg from rotating when grinding and also allows you to "clock" the peg into 4 different positions when it gets ground down alot in each of those positions. Also as mentioned, you just need a ratchet, extension and socket to remove them.
