This old thing isn't in to bad a shape. It needs work, but I have seen MUCH worse. Where can I get the styrofoam covers remade? The one over the neck is fine, the other two are pretty bad, one is really fadded and the other is really fadded and has a HUGE gapping hole in it. It also needs some custom paint work done when I find a new front rim for it as I doubt I will find another rim like the old one. The rim you see is only beeing used to prop it up. The paint is strange, I can airbrush the black but the green and orange stripes have a texture to them, they feel kind of "lumpy" I guess.

Other issues:

- Paint may need to be buffed in some areas.

- Brakes need work, but unsure of the coaster brake.

- Needs new hardware for coaster brake clip.

- Needs rear rim repaired as there is a small spot where it is out of whack.

- Seat vinyl needs some repair

- Some spots may need minor rust repair, but it is not that deep, it is mostly surface rust.

- Needs new reflectors

Other than tires, I think that is it. Anyone know where I can get the covers remade and an idea on cost? I was a little afraid to ask about cost. It could be a real nice bike when repairs are made. There are not to many old Kents left.

new chain too. Not sure on the condition of the chain-guard, but definitely a new chain.

was kent a real bmx brand at some point?

i remember seeing a few neon yellow and orange bikes with black kent stickers and neon yellow plastic wheels. i was told they came from poland and must have cost around $100 each.

There is chrome kent on ebay right now. The one on ebay looks like it may have been a cheap entry level BMX bike, but a legit one. More than likely something department stores offered. As for where they were made I cannot say. I would sya that this one is entry level even for an entry level brand.

Have yet to have any of these questions answered.

that is because it is a cheap Walmart throw away bike. having a padset custom made for it would likely cost three times what the bike was new. my suggestion would be to clean it up and put a tire on that front wheel and give it to some kid in need of a bike. it is not and never will be a collectible, there are scores out there but this is not one of them.

If you decide to part it out I have first dibs....oops wrong site LOL!!!!!

Why does it seem like everybody is so stuck-up on the same old stuff? It is always "Scrambler" "Haro" "GT", etc...I don't see how one can go to a bike show and find all the bikes look alike and be entertained. Has it ever occured to you that maybe, JUST MAYBE someone would like to get some pleasure out of their things and not think of them as an investment? I think of this as unique and sticks out in a crowd. It ain't chrome like everything else.

i understand where you are coming from man. there are a lot of people on here, including myself that would tell you, "if you like it, build it."

Hey! dont talk about chrome like that! Thems fightin werds, partner!

Chrome is your friend and if you treat it right, it will treat you right. Abuse it, and it will destroy your bike!

Chrome>everything else.

Now apologize to the gods of mirrored reflection.

Now chrome is something I love, it is a poweful thing. Don't abuse it's power.

"The power of chrome is a curious thing
Make a one bike weep, make another bike sing
Change a hawk to a shiny mirror-like dove
More than a feeling thats the power of chrome

Tougher than diamonds, rich like cream
Stronger and harder than a bad girls dream
Make a bad one good make a wrong one right
Power of chrome that keeps you home at night"

lol

classicfan1, I think what these guys are trying to tell you is that your Kent is probably not worth spending a whole lot of $$ or time on. If you enjoy it, great, keep it and look for another with better parts to build one minty from. Someone has to be the keeper of the low end bikes. Someone, someday will be nostalgic for them and they will thank you. For an example, I'll use the off brand and department store Stingray knock offs. The Sears Screamer wasn't anywhere near as "good" as a Schwinn, but they are coveted today. What I'm saying is just don't blow your wad on parts, there have got to be thousands of those things around still today lurking in sheds just waiting for you. Corner the market and collect all you want, just don't get pissed when no one takes you seriously and won't help you in your quest.

How very true. The Ford Edsel was thought of as a cheap, POS. Then...BOOM prices skyrocket and they become rare and desirable collector's items.
