Carolyn and I were so beat before we even left to Rockford but finally made it 1:30 A.M. Saturday!!

With Stuart speaking this year I thought everyone would get a kick seeing 1974/75 through 1981 Redlines displayed with much of the memorabilia too? Not sure who all saw the mini Thomsen documentary playing on the TV but included that below. Three of the bikes displayed were replicas of Stu's 1975 Helicopter bike, 1980 ABA #1 ProLine, and 1981 Minnesota Rondo Classic BMXA cover shot bike. The fourth was his 1978 SE / Mongoose Skate Park Aerial bike featured in BMXA.

Didn't have enough room for more Cook Bros. but thought a PIT and Cruiser side by side would balance the Redline display. The Cruiser is a Minnesota bike that was raced by our starter Gary Erdman from Team Tremco back in 1980. Luckily I purchased the bike and added some Cook Bros. accessories to keep it real 1st generation Cook Bros.

The 1977 DG Skibel / Landis replica was a six year project and was waiting for those grips to finally display it! The bike is modeled after the BMXA Skibel article in 1978. Added the DG / Powerlite stem to funk it up a tad and what is really funky is the dual rear dropouts to make this guy a one of a kind.

Mike Landis was a DG racer and his dad added the second dropout to improve handling. Matched up with the rare mini competition forks this became a long project but glad it is finally finished for all to enjoy, especially Steve Skibel himself!

Stuart had a great time reminiscing about his his bikes, especially the SE / Mongoose skate park aerial bike. The Honda MX levers on that and the 1980 ABA Proline were a tad time consuming and we'll leave it at that. Being from Minnesota and the '81 Rondo Classic being held where I live now, I had to do this since the cover was engrained into my head the day I got my BMXA from Wizard Pubs. It's also rare that Bob Osborn was at an ABA race in '81 to snap the cover shot...thanks OZ!

For the Jeff Utterback fans the JU Mini, only 200 were made, came out to play! Extra DG parts were added to make this a mini tricked out racer.

We made the most of it being so tired so here's our visual perspective of Rockford.

Enjoy!
