Maybe I missed them, but I thought about it while I was there and it seemed some "regulars" were absent this year. Off the top of my head, here's what I didn't see:
ANY JMC Darrell Young or Andy Patterson. Any Kappa's. An Azusa 24. GHP of any size. A Hutch race bike that wasn't chrome (maybe there was one black one, but no Hollywoods or Judges). Yamaha motobike (ok, maybe not a staple of Rockford, but you'd think there'd be at least one). Kawasaki (same deal as yamaha). Was there a GJS race bike there? The PK Ripper and looptail quads seemed down this year as well.
Cash Matthews
There's a red 1974 Hardtail Webco coming next year. Oh man, this is the one!
STRIKE
I can't recall who it was right now, but someone pointed out to me that there wasn't one 1st Gen Haro Freestyler. And they were right. It's funny because there seemed to be a LOT of them there last year iirc.
TuRBo Todd Britton
Dang, that's right. I forgot to mention the Haro 1st gen. Good call.

Morey had a GJS and pf course Jessie's GJS Big Tube. I know I saw a Judge. There was a white Hutch with lavender parts. Bikes I missed were a Schwinn Sting and a 1982 or earlier Torker...
TuRBo Todd Britton
PK, I had a pre 82 Torker there! Oh yeah, I forgot about the Big Tube.... And I personally blame you for the lack of PK's there, being as yours is so nice, the others apparently just stay home...
subwax
No Changa's either.

Oops, sorry Todd, I saw your Skyways but must have missed the Torker. Actually, I had NO built PKs, only a few frames...Bob Bohlmann is the one who had probably the nicest true to era PK I think I have ever seen...

TuRBo Todd Britton
Bob always has such cool builds. That bike rules!
BenOr
Bob does have excellent builds.

I didnt see any Profiles in any pics yet.
TuRBo Todd Britton
Yeah, didn't see any Profiles that I can remember.
Things are a little different now with Rockford bikes. I think in some ways the retro projects have hurt things. Now I have to look a bit closer to see if a PK or quad or Skyway TA is the "real thing" or a retro newschool. Plus with all of the previously non-existent bikes (i.e., DB Turbo pit, Hutch Trickstar pits, Trickstar 24", Performer 24"'s) and homemade bikes it's harder to tell "what's real" (for lack of a better word. I saw a guy I know @ Rockford who was attending for the first time, not to show, or to race, but because his buddy was there doing both. He was saying stuff like "I don't remember Hutch making Trickstar cruisers or 24" Performers" and when I told him guys were making them he was kinda ticked/disappointed, he thought he was looking at old bikes (or losing his mind). Now I'm not saying that. I like retro and this homemade stuff, but not at the expense of seeing a lot less cool 70's/80's bikes at the show. They each have their place, but that place has been getting a little bit hazy as of late.

It's not "home made stuff". "Modified" yes. My frame and fork started out as a Trickstar and made into a 24". Nothing home made
TuRBo Todd Britton
"homemade" or "modified", either way, it wasn't "factory made", Hutch never made a 24" Trickstar, that's all. My post isn't meant to offend. I thought those bikes were cool (and the Performer 24" isn't a modified bike, is it? Didn't Knight make them from scratch?")

I understood what you meant, but it could have been taken another way. Someone could have read what you posted and thought "damn someone is making these bikes in their garage, that sux". I took no offence to what you posted.Knight is an actual company and thats why the Performer 24" was in the retro class and not "custom". I know what your saying, thats why I'm glad that Mike came up with the "custom" class.

Thanks for the comments on the PK. For all the SE builds I have done over the years, I had never had a looptail PK. I was going for the 1981 PK test bike in BMXA look. I'll get some good shots of that one over the holiday weekend and post them up next week.
