Pro's the time has come to give you your own venue. With the pro payout lower than it was 30 years ago, time for someone to look out for the pros. I am looking at putting 10 races together through out the US, some will be at State Fairs, others indoor stadiums, atleast 1 downhill. We will be running AA, Vet, Womans, Legends openwheel, Dirt jumping,Legends Dirt Jumping, and at each race there will be large car jump. This will be a show to help promote BMX in big cities, and at State Fairs to kids and parents who have never seen BMX. I will not be competing against the NBL or ABA, and will shedule around their series. They will be encouraged to be at our races to hand out fliers to kids that are interested in racing. In the long run I think we can bring in more sponosors not only for the Pros but for all of BMX. Most people have never heard of BMX until the Olympics. With the right advertising and racing at State Fairs, it is my belief the ABA and NBL rider count will nearly double. Hopefully this will be a win win situation for all of BMX.

That would be killer if you can pull it off.

I've always thought about setting up a track @ the state fair. Here in NC the state fair is like 2nd Christmas.

Good Luck & keep us in touch here with how things are going. I remember Greg Hill trying to put something like this together a few years ago, but I don't think the funding came through.

Sounds like a good idea. Every kid knows about Monster trucks why not BMX?
Bikemonkeys
I was Googling Monster trucks when I found this thread.

Just kidding. Good idea, I hope I can hit at least one of the races.

Good Luck..

Get'er done

If this takes off I would think you would see more young racers turn up to pro at 16 instead of staying am for the team thing as long.

Indiana has discussed putting the State final at the State fair many times.... nobody seems willing to do it... lol.
ti always comes up that it is too early in the year. oh well.
I always say why not a qualifier?

Woody you right, already spoke with your state and they were thrilled about the idea.

There used to be a race at the AZ state fair in the 70's, it was a huge deal, major bragging rights. Best of luck, have fun pulling it off in this economy

shlocal002
since this year is HALF over...do you think this will really happen in 6 months? Not raining on the parade but I recall it took MAT HOFFMAN/MCGOO/ESPN at least 2 years to put the Triple Crown Downhill thing together- and those are BIG names.

Ron hope your efforts are legit unlike IMO that scam 2 yrs ago of "BIG PAYOUT SERIES" which was just a front for luring people to join their new website.
Good luck & for the Northeast area we have a multistate fair called "The Big E" check it out.
RonnieJessup
I already have the track and facility ready for the First race. I have no idea who runs this website. Yes next year will be here soon, and we will be racing. I do not want to annouce the first date until the ABA and NBL list there races as I am trying to work around there Schedules. I can tell you this the first race will be held in Florida the Sunshine State.
K Robison
Bet I can guess where, but won't!

Good luck on doing this. As others have said, the pros really do need to pull together and do their own thing. It has been done a couple of times in the history of our sport and could be again.

You must not be familiar with the ABA and NBL. They dont schedule on top of each other by accident. One doesn"t put a Regional or cup race as close to the others Nat. on the same weekend but for one purpose, because it is a war zone those too. If you think they are gonna help us out or work with us in any way,you have lost your mind. Right now as soon as they catch wind they will do what ever they can to put a stop to it. They will never see the big picture, and will only look at us as trying to take their Pros away, not see that we are trying to bring in a whole new wave of riders.

So if they find out it'll be bad, so we'll bring it up on teh Internets. Got it.

No wonder you're wealthy.

You're coming across sketchy dude; yea for your $60 million and all that, but you're coming across sketchy

And, please understand my skepticism, but this isn't the first "a new sanction/series/means to save the sport" thing that's come along. But once the fireworks die out all we see is empty sky. I'm saying a legit guy on a legit deal would be on the phone working angles rather than inflaming e-passions.

The sanctions have been working closer on scheduling in the last years, and more synergy is expected in time to come.

This reminds me of that old line that I hear from the right side of the aisle. (Standing in the center I seem to hear both sides all the time, LOL) I'll paraphrase for BMX.

"Hi, I'm from the sanction , I'm here to help".

Come on, you know that sounds funny!!
Come on...

Heck, aba, nbl, uci, olympics, bsa, heck won't be long before we see all the top racing pros chillin wit dah stars on entertainment tonight, with all that money that must be flowing into pro racing to justify these events!

I don't think any one or any body mentioned anything about saving anything. Not sure what you are reading. Bicycle Supercoss is putting on a show not just a race. It will certanly not be for everyone. However their are many that want this. Once again those who wish to particapate are welcome, those who are not interested will be affected in no way. Thats the wonderful thing about living here in AMERICA. We are free people. We are free to put out products if we have the resources to do so. This could go very well, or after a few events if the intrest just is not there than it will go away, and I'll just sit on my money and relax where ever I want from day to day. You know Johnnie Knoxville had a stupid idea and alot of people turned him down, but someone listened to him, and as stupid as his show is and movies. Hes makin a killin, cause apparently his stupid idea of doing stupid things, apparently attracted alot of stupid people. So I will take my chances.

I grew-up where Knoxville and his buds are from . They didnt have a choice whether to do stupid pranks or not . There was nothing else to do in amish country . I am so glad to have someone take a chance on our sport . I hope someday to hear Ron is up for the HOF . It will be so nice to see my friends on my 60in tv .

Workin so close they were gonna put a UCI race on top of the NBL GRANDS. Some say the start of Bicycle Supercross ended that.

Ya' know Elvis......I have been in this sport for 30 years. You seem to think that with your infinite ABA wisdom you understand and know all about the sport. WRONG! Get over yourself. Your ABA is not doing everything to help the sport, they are doing everything to help the bottom line!

I have known Ronnie or about Ronnie for around 29 years now...he LOVES bmx and the lifestyle that goes with it. I for one think he can make this work due to his passionfor it NOT due to his need to milk all the money out of it he can.

Call me if you need anything Ronnie.....

If Indiana could piggy back their state series on this venue "when" it gets constructed, that would be the bomb diggity. Unlike Indiana, it sounds like you have the bankroll to gamble on breaking even with this type of proposal.

Good luck with this......not sure what the overall goal is, but hey, it sounds cool.

South Park's gap was 37' when I did it. I'm pretty sure I can do at least 3 or 4 cars at 43+ yrs old. That would be a huge sideshow itsself! I'm game....where's my cape?

Seriously. If Ronnie wants to do it, maybe something unique will come out of it. I for one will be after the crown of Legends/40+/Overgrown kid. Why the heck not! I for one am so sick and tired of the same 'ol, same 'ol.

If you build it, they will come. If it takes a few weekends for them to actually come out......more first place $$$ for me!

From what I know and have been told, the mojo behind this push has a bit more clout than the last 'BIG NEW SERIES' that never happened.

At the very least, it will make for some spirited banter on the web!

Isn't the term "Supercross" already being used?

I for one am a bit skeptical as well but I really do wish you the best of luck, and it's not the best idea to flame those who may not see things about this as clearly as you may. You may not have done it but your supporters have. I don't think that good business sence. Pulling something of this size off, you can't afford to burn any bridges IMO.

Good luck, I hope it works out for everyone. I prefer to direct my energys at a local level for the kids who one day may be filling your ranks.

Supercross is being used in many ways. None of which is Bicycle Supercross. As for local racing great job. Although we are not into AM racing. I approached Bob T. years ago about putting tracks in inner city areas. He said thats fine but who is gonna run them. I said no one just give kids a place to ride that don't have one. The answer there is no money in that. So I am going to contact every Capital all 50 states. Let them Know about the sport, and let them no if they provide dirt tractor and atleast 2 acres I will put a track in so kids can have a place to ride. No starting gate, just some turns, and jumps to play on. In the long run BMX will see some of these kids at the races. Theres empty tennis courts everywhere. And no they won't have pay to ride. It will be a bike playground.

I hope it works out better than the last few attempts-(anyone remember the boot shaped trophies? was it the icl or something). I hink you will have a hard time waiting until "the others" post their schedules before you make dates. Most venues want dates and money and insurance info way before kids show up- and "the other's" wont be posting schedules for a while. Then when dates are ready, you still have to sell the idea to sponsors and new members-how much for entries? whats the purse looking like? Unless you have sonsors and insurance and members ALREADY to go- I don't see this happening next year, but I've tasted my vans before....

Yes, the future is at the local level. When we dramatically increase the local tracks and riders the companies will be able to pay the Pros more.

The longer we ignore the kids the longer we will be kept from real growth.

All the Best!

Where were you guys during ESPN downhill races. The only true Bicycle Motocross races ever . Remeber the ones the muscle heads wouldn't race and guys with skills dominated like Robbie Miranda. They were downhill with 60 ft. gaps between the jumps. It was both exciting and entertaining. The pros want so we are going to give it to them.

I was trackside for at least a couple of them and I was really bummed to see them go. I'm wondering what you think killed that racing format and what will you do differently?

I'm super hopeful that something like this can be pulled off but I have to admit to being at least a little skeptical.

We are going to be bringing more of a SHOW with bicycle racing included. The highlight of the Show will not be the race. I have someone who is claimiing to be after Evil's record on a bicycle, if we build him the right ramp. He says if he can reach the right speed he can do it. Personally I don't think it can be done. But who I am to say, lets build it and see. That is just 1 of many other big stunts, that are in the works. However we are planning on using a 15 man starting gate to keep the BMX just a little more exciting. There will 2 SHOWS for sure next year. I am working on 3 others. We will have Dirt jumping, 35 over Legends dirt jumping. It will be a complete BICYCLE SUPERCROSS SHOW highlighting the history of the bicycle, and the magical stunts perfomed both past and present. Anything you would like to see. Thanks RJ
