I'd say that bike is worthy of the left testicle.

I click on that picture and the very first thing I focus on is a saggy chain. For shame.

What is so special about this bike? It looks lame to me! My Hutch Trickstar and Hutch Pro are way better!

Pretty rad, even with the saggy chain.

Saggy chain definetly a no no.
And as far as VDC freestylers go, I've seen much nicer. Twintoptubers black one comes to mind (sold to Matos)
Nothing against that bike, but as exotic as it is, it would be nice to see parts that were a little more special on it, and not have it built up like a run of the mill 80's freestyle bike.

To me thats exactly what makes it pretty cool. Not enough red tuffs around anymore either. I like it. The chain was a bit of a let down but it's not like it can't be fixed.

Rare frame indeed but does anyone know how terrible the craftsmanship was on those things? You were lucky if you could get the chain aligned with the freewheel at all, a saggy chain is the least of your worries.
Voris was a great man, and an incredible craftsman, in general, but those VDC Freestylers were poop - "quality-wise"
(gasp) He didn't just go there (un-gasp)
Keep it gangsta!

Maybe that's why the chain is so saggy. So he can stand to ride it all crossed over and such.

Look at the flanges on those red tuffs!
Thank you for the compliment '85, my black one is still my favorite out of the old collection. Deno has it correct about the craftmanship on the frame, terrible. My black one can not pedal without serious mods/shims.

Yeah, I remember when you built it up at Brian P's a few years back and you mentioned that.

If that bike is set up like such junk, why would everyone love to have one? Wait, I know the answer, it's rare.

IMHO, nothing can ever take James' VDC Freestyler. The thought and wisdom that went into that build is second to none. Nice to see you checking in James!

Those red tuffs have GOLD campy hubs

in them!!!!! Is a good build. There were some sweet builds at the show this year.

I beleive the chain was saggy because it was missing an axle nut at that time. They are first gen campy hubs. It was a nice bike, and Neil is a cool cat. As for James's bike, I don't think anyone can top that. Would be nice to see him build again

Thanks for the kind words, Hboost - appreciated.
That bloody axle nut nearly caused me a heart attack!!! Got it sorted in the end though. Shame the pic wasnt after the chain issue was sorted, still, such is life.
Run of the mill??? DK Freestyle stem, VDC seatpost and bars? NOS skyway mags with 1st gen campy hubs? C'mon guys, just because it hasnt got Hutch, Hutch, Hutch, doesnt make it any less worthy.
I was pleased with it - I guess you cant please everyone. Shame I'm flamed for building a bike I like, but thats life - happy days. You try building a bike from 5000 miles away!!!

THe bike looks real sweet Neil! I don't think anyone is knocking your bike on purpose. It is very hard to pull off an exotic freestyle bike and you did a good job. I missed hanging out his year, hope to be back in '10!

Its not supposed to be anything like James' bike either - its my bike. Kudos to James though - his bike has set a pretty high standard. Just doesnt really need anyone doing a comparison job though - they are 2 different entities.

Great build ! Love it. We do have a tough time over in blighty finding rare parts. Quality issues on the Freestyler? I guess thats why they made the Free Agent! 2MM chain stay to tyre clearance with a fully maxxed out MX 1000. You got to love Voris's creations.
