funny thing is floridavaughn set me up with frame and fork and then i went to the LBS to look for parts. he had a pile of used handlebars in the back of the shop and i found those, with OG mongoose grips still on 'em. what were the chances of that?

I like it a lot. I would run smaller tires for the oldschool look, but if you wanna ride it than do what feels right.
Also, are you going to resticker it? I think you should, it looks so clean, new decals would look great.

Its amazing. Tuffs (or look a likes) look cool on anything. Old school, mid school, new schol, future school... it dont matter.
I just recently acquired a Californian and it rode better than how I remembered they did. Not sure if it was the 80s bike feel I was liking or the actual frame itself. I sold my 04 Haro SX shortly after getting the californian. New school bikes are crap.
edit: just realized those werent tuffs.

Yeah they do, some mags just make bikes look hot. I don't know how many times I've changed my mind and ditched the spokes for mags.

oh, i plan on changing some things on it. this was just stuff i had laying around or whatever i could pick up cheap just to get it rollin'. smaller tires, definately. it does have 175 ashtabulas with a ppp power disc and sealed bottom bracket which i'll keep. i think i'll get stickers also.

Cool build. The mags, black tires and lack of decals give it a mean, clean look. A black seat and lever would finish the job:

Is that where the original downtube decal was placed? Its going to hard to wheelie with it that far forward

I like it with the black mags - I'd go for a set of gum wall tires if you want the old school look - that's just my opinion though
Here's my cali rider in a similar stylee (although I have changed the Kashi aero to a padded kashi RS now as the aero was killing my ass !
