This is exactly how I bid online. I also don't have those "Man, I spent too much money for that thing!" moments by doing that.

I have a story for everyone...

So I admit I'm knew to collecting and restoring. There are snares out there and I had gotten myself into one, but I got out. I'm not going to go into detail about the product. But let's just say it was a certain Tuff Wheel that had the description:

OLD SCHOOL style mag blah blah blah.. With OLD SCHOOL capitalized. I wanted them for a restore. So I bid and I put in a high amount and was letting it ride. I was the high bidder, but not by much.

4 days later I decided to see what new ones would be, because I had spent most of my play money and needed to rethink what I was doing. I saw the EXACT same wheels on a site, plus a purchase package that included brake pads, tires, etc, for 50.00. I thought, man, I don't really need the vintage stuff on everything, some things need to be just for fun (since I'm not a rich man).

But something triggered inside me that said "Man, these look a lot alike". So I went back to the description and that's when it hit me..."OLD SCHOOL style". THESE WEREN'T VINTAGE AT ALL!!!!! And I had but over 100 smacks.

I felt decieved but also realized that 'buyer beware' was my responsibility....so I did what anyone would do in a situation like this...

I made up a story, along w/ a request to have my bid cancelled, and it worked. At the end of the day, some other sucker (and I say other sucker because I was one) paid 2 dollars less than what I would have paid.

You have to be very careful out there.

Yeah, you have to watch out for the TONS of BMX stuff that are deceptively described or titled. And the bad thing about it is, its sellers with 100% positive with 500 feedbacks that are just as guilty of doing it as anyone else. In fact, they do it more. I just refuse to buy from those people. Deceptive is dishonest and I dont care how many items they sell or how bad I might want something, Ill never buy anything from them.

They conveniently leave out the word "type" or "copy" in the title but they say it (in small print usually) the description on the auction page. This is mostly done on Comp III lookalikes but you see it on grips pads and other stuff as well.

You'll get used to seeing it and you'll start noticing it more and more. It happens way too much.

It really angered me to be honest w/ you. Can you imagine spending 100.00 dollars on something to realize that you could buy it brand new, with a package, for 50.00? Plus, these wheels had a ding in one of them...so they weren't even in perfect shape.

I should post that users handle on here...
