How do you restore rusted and pitted chrome? Looks like a tough restoration job!

How do you restore rusted and pitted chrome? Looks like a tough restoration job!
Clean the frame & fork with windex and a rag. Then rub the rusty areas with steel wool with #0000 grade steel wool. If that does not seem to do the trick, go up to a rougher grade.
If steel wool doesn't cut it, try spraying the rusted areas with CLR or oxalic acid and scrub with a small plastic bristle brush.
If all else fails, you'll need to soak them in an oxalic acid bath...search the Restoration forum, there's plenty of info there.

Yeah dude, 88 and 89, and damn those are gorgeous! Look like they were both ridden about a year then stuffed into the back of the garage. I'm all about Dyno also. Those are gonna be HOTT once cleaned up.. I love those 88 Dyno mags... quite rare, especially in black! Go the Oxalic acid route - there's a ton of that info in the Resto section. Just take your time and I might avoid soaking them, given that those decals are near impossible to find. Looks like yours are already in decent shape. Definitely keep us posted on these!!!

Yeah, you don't see those decals pop up very often, if at all. Wonder why?
