As, I'm sure many of you know. I sold my Nomura 24" bike, complete, to Jeff Haney a year or so ago. Jeff kept in touch with me through the whole restoration and build process. As you all also know, Jeff is way too modest to brag on any of his AWESOME stuff. That's why he has me smile.gif When he sent me the emails Thursday of the finished project, I was simply blown away. I told him that he really needed to start threads on OS and the V to show this beauty off and he told me to go ahead and post threads if I wanted too. He just wanted me to see it first. So with great pleasure and Jeff's blessing, I present the 1 of 5 (or 6 ) built Nomura 24".

When Jeff got the bike, he sent the frame to Rod and had the seat mast repaired (approx 1/2" hairline crack at the keyhole) and also had Rod fill a couple of dings.

The frame then went to get professionally polished. Afterwards, Jeff collected the parts and built this masterpiece.

1st gen Rebel 24 fork
Profile gyrolites
Terry cable double pull piston system
Shimano cranks that were used by the Nomura bros. for there factory give away team sponsor bike
Suntour pedals
Pro class rims
ESP stem
Oakley B2 grips
1st gen Profile cruiser bars
DC Mx1000 F& R brakes with skyway pro pads
Dated Elina
Comp 3s
Tange MX3 head set

This bike is where it belongs and Jeff said that he only needs two more cruisers to complete his holy grail (and very rare) cruiser collection. You all might also see pics of a complete 1 of 3 GJS 24" real soon too

For being professionally polished, it sure doesnt look very polished..just clean and sorta average. Maybe its the indoor nature of the pic. Still though, nice build!! I like the rebel fork, that the odd ball part that makes it unique!!

You would have to have seen how bad it was to really appreciate the finish. The indoor pics in a blue room surely do the finish job absolutely no justice. The frame (before) looked like it was cleaned with a scotchbrite at some point.

Looks pretty unique to me - you can certainly always polish it more if bling is the bench mark. Regardless of whether it's shiny enough, Jeff certainly has it all happening in that room - nothing to be blue about there.

Nice bike. Not quite sure about the mish-mash of parts myself. All quality stuff but I ain't feeling it as a complete.

I still think Martin's 20" is the nicest Nomura out there.

I thought Jeff had sold all his stuff to Juan?
Or was that Rich?

Ps: anyone else checking out that cool stuff in the background?

Andy, I agree about the beauty of Martin's 20" Nomura, but this was 1 of 4 built and 1 of 2 know to still exist with the other one being Wade's personal bike that he still has. Originally I said 1 of 6, but Wade changed his story after looking through his records. (Yes he still has them all.) That's what is so cool about this bike. You are definately entitled to your opinion on the parts choice. No issues there.

Rick, I JUST finished the Murray. I just borrowed a camera yesterday to get pics. It's the ONLY complete bike I kept when I sold my collection off.

Brian , thanks for posting the pics and thanks for the good words guys ! Alex, the finish is replicated to what the original Nomura finish was. It is back to its original tone. Not quite perfect mirror finish and yet not burnished. Don, did a great job on it and up close it looks just like it did when it was new.
The cranks were off of the 26" Nomura that the Nomura bros. built for there top co sponsor that year. It was a old Motorcycle / wave runner shop back in the day. The guy that i bought the entire bike from lived in Michigan. They Nomura bros had built it with these silver DX cranks, DX pedals, Renthal seat post, Renthal bars, 3 speed set up , campy hubs, ETC. I have been saving those cranks for years to use on the perfect Nomura and I felt this one was it.
The reason I went with the Rebel fork was the tubing and the decals being on the front. Most factory decals are on the side of the fork and I liked how the rebel fork looked from the side being all chrome. I also liked the tubing diameter over the Tange TRX fork that the Nomura bros used.
The only thing that i plan on changing is the seat post and the pedals. I am having the original Nomura Bros. Renthal seat post polished and i am going with VDC pedal cage extenders. Thanks for the kind words guys and thanks to Brian for giving me a shot at owning it. I have 2 more cruisers to go and i will have my holy grail cruiser line up complete. Jeff

Just my opinion - I don't hate it - just would feel more at home with some other parts myself.
Jeff know his stuff!

PS: Jeff - I you want to buy your old Kuwi back off me LMK wink.gif

I bought the frame from Tom Pzsenny who lived in New Hampshire at the time. I'll have to find out where he got it. Maybe Jeff knows that story?? Tom's not around much anymore.
