This was one of the more challenging and educational builds for me. I really enjoyed getting in touch with a lot of people outside my usual circle of collectors. I have even been in contact with a former Block factory rider and I will be contacting Rich Bartett hopefully this week. I will of course be giving updates as more of this story unfolds.

This build started out as my Cycle Craft XLX Brian Foster Tribute bike. However while I was playing with design and paint options for my bike I first was offered to purchase a frame by a regular customer at Kore Bikes here in Az. He was under the impression it was a Reynolds Racing and possibly a custom. I of course knew it was Cycle Craft made and the research began. With the help of Donnie (Gaijan) I confirmed what I had stumbled on. It was Block frame number # 08. I also learned that his buddy Jason was in the process of building Block frame number #13.

The next hurdle was of course a set forks. At this point in my search there was not a single set known to be in public hands. When I originally talked to Donnie about the frame his first question was does it have the forks with it? I told him no and he replied good luck in ever finding a set of forks. I was originally going to use my CC Dirt Legs and I happen to cross paths with the guy who purchased the Cycle Craft trailer from Shag a little over two years ago. There were some odd ball parts in there including a Nos never painted set of double thick drop out Cycle Craft forks. For those of you who don’t know I just located my Unicorn-hell even better a Virgin Unicom. I just found Nos Block forks with the metal code writing still intact.

The forks arrived last Friday a week and a day before the Peck Park show. The frame, bars, seat post and cranks were already at the powder coaters starting to get prepped. I ran the forks over the same day and came through on my end of the deal for them to do a rush job for me. The color choice was Cosmic Metallic White which is a rare color they happened to have in stock left over from another job. I finished building the bike at 2 am Friday night six hours before the show started.

I still have more work to do which may include the planned airbrushing of the bike.

I was told I was in contention to win but later found out I didn't get first. However I did win last year with my Menstrual Cycle.

Fantastic build! Pure early 90's!

I thought my Holmes was hard to muscle around the track until my buddy got his Block(#11 I think and then #20...something after his first got stolen then his 2nd one got semi-stolen after "a friend" loaned it to another and then another and so on until it just disappeared). Then again, we were only 15 smile.gif He still watches ebay and such...just in case.

Nice job!
