Hope it is ok to start my documentation here.
I will start with the back story...
86, my parents bought me a group1 RS1..my first real bike...
I raced a local season with it.

Got into nationals in 87 or 88.. not too sure anymore.
My very 2nd national...
Easter classic in orlando.. First day of practice we walked by the MCS booth, trailer, tent, what have you.
Seen this F/F for 50 bucks. i asked my dad,he said ok... took it to the room, and swapped every part from the Haro over.
From that day, never looked back.Statre #1 and 2(different years..) a national #12... plus a #1 ranking the following year, that i could never get to.....A few changes were made here and there as we werent rich...
Got a dk stem, powerlite bars, new GT hubs on the UKAI rims from the haro. seat posts, etc...number plates..

broke the haro cranks, got my flights....
She has not left my side since that day... no storage, no one holding it for me..it has always been with me.....

And now it is time to honor her...

I will not, redo the bike... it is going to get cleaned, restickered, a little paint here and there.

Time for refreshment

I will ask those of you who read this for your advice and opinions...
I cant/wont let the bike leave me...Id have a panic attack...lol but.
The chrome is pretty well beat... would you guys/girls leave it as is and just go with it....
Or paint it?
Can paint over chrome turnout decent enough?

Anyhow....
here it goes...

Clean and polish her up! Maybe a little Oxalic Acid bath to get rid of that surface rust?

It's good to know that I am not the only one who uses "living space not designed for bicycles" to work on my projects.

This is the coolest picture I have seen on the boards in weeks. Cheers to you.

Cool, glad to see this one getting the re-do. Did you ever find the decals for it?

"Honey...why is my hairdryer all greasy and sticky?"

rlowride
nope.. never found the decals.. that i had.. got a different set...
they should look good enough....
i still cant decide if i want to paint, or leave as is...
how hard is it to paint. or powder over chrome?
nicanoia
If the chrome isn't flakey, powder should go on a treat..

Nice to see a bike that's stuck by your side throughout the years..
